Mia Foster Benelli is a mess. At fifteen and a half, she's torn between her two loves: ballet and Patrick, her best friend Nina's older brother. She lives in provincial Leicester with her mother Elena, an Italian woman whose stockbroker husband took off for London and another woman soon after they got to England, and who has struggled since the split to make ends meet and take proper care of her daughter. Now, Mia has to decide whether to try out for the Royal Ballet School in London when show more they can't afford the tuition, not even with scholarships. And when her "guardian angel" Patrick comes back on leave from the Royal Navy, Mia must finally approach him with the feelings she's kept hidden forever.

Although Mia's dance talent and Patrick's looks and character are elevens on a scale of ten, the rest of the characters and plot are honest and realistic; the drama never feels contrived. Mia struggles with relationships, friendships, schoolwork, family, and career choices, makes awful mistakes, and deals with the consequences. There are plenty of high points too, and they're not all immediately followed by reversals; the story feels organic, though the school-year frame of the timeline makes it clear when things will build to a climax.

That climax, though, is wrenching: just when Mia's about to have everything she ever dreamed of, it's all snatched away and she's left with nothing but pain. In search of peace and relief she tries to end her life. The last scene occurs in a hospital, where she hears doctors talking about a coma and a miraculous survival--thanks, perhaps, to a guardian angel.

Per chi non ha letto il libro è meglio che si fermi qui perchè il mio commento sarà molto spoileroso!!
Eh già!Ho sperato fino all'ultimo in un miracolo, ho sperato che Patrick fosse vivo da qualche parte e che tornasse prima o poi da Mia, ma ciò non è avvenuto...
Ho dovuto dire anche io addio a Patrick insieme a Mia, a Betty, a Nina, pur non volendo. Ho amato da impazzire Mia e Patrick e sono stata contenta per lei e per il suo futuro anche senza il suo Patrick. Confesso che avrei show more voluto un lieto fine diverso ma purtroppo questa è la realtà; nella vita vera nessuno torna dall'aldilà e quindi la Bosco ha cercato di essere più realista che fantasiosa, a malincuore!
Prima o poi tutti dobbiamo lasciare andare qualcuno ed è vero che dobbiamo vivere appieno la nostra vita senza rancori e senza rimpianti. Grazie Federica per questa meravigliosa trilogia che senz'altro farò leggere un giorno a mia figlia!

If you wonder for the rest of your life why you didn't say something to someone, it will be a punishment that will be hard for you to bear."
I've readied few books from Federica Bosco and I really like them, because show more they are so easy to read and quite interesting. But, this book really touched me. This is a warm story about life, loyalty, family love, endless friendship. This is a story about fact how life can be unfair, but when you have your family, friends and love, everything is easier. Non sapevo assolutamente di che cosa parlasse il libro e l'ho letto incuriosita dal perché tutti (più o meno) ne parlassero così bene e dall'inizio cercavo di farmi un'idea immaginando una trama adatta al titolo e pensavo che fosse un libro fantasy dove la storia era incentrata su qualche angelo (simile a "Rebel" per capirci!).
Man mano che andavo avanti con la storia ho capito che era tutto più attuale e reale!
Mia provava emozioni e sensazioni che ho provato anche io a 15 anni e mi show more sono veramente affezionata e commossa per questa ragazzina un po' "ribelle", come del resto siamo stati un po' tutti a quell'età, e ho gioito e sofferto con lei fino all'ultima pagina.
C'era un ma che aleggiava per tutta la lettura:il titolo è riferito ad un ragazzo bello come un angelo no??
Alla fine la risposta che cercavo è arrivata.......
