This book is an informational book all about the Earth. It is part of a series that discusses all of the planets, so students who like this format will likely enjoy the other books as well. This book talks about how the Earth orbits the sun, its rotation, the layers of the Earth, the atmosphere, the fact that Earth is livable, the four seasons, the continents, and the moon. It gives a good brief overview of each of these areas. I think this book would be good to have in the classroom while show more learning about the Earth or the solar system. I would like to use a page or so out of the book to introduce different areas, like the Earth's rotation or the three layers (core, mantle, and crust). I like that the book has many text features like a table of contents, glossary, bold vocabulary words, and captions. I think this book is a little information-heavy, so I would not want to read more than a page at a time to the whole class. It would be good to have for 3rd-4th grade to use for a research paper. show less
This book is awesome, it explains all about earth. It starts with how earth orbits the sun. It also has bolder words with more explanation at the bottom of the page and a glossary at the back of the book. It then explains earths rotation. This book has cool pictures that match the text I am particularly fond of the atmosphere picture because it is so life like. The book goes on to explains that earth is the only living planet and back this up with lots of facts. This book has heavy content show more so when learning about the ness standard of weather in third grade you could flip to the four seasons page and have your advanced students read it to figure out why season change. show less
