Frostic's poetry is such a love note to nature, especially when paired with her beautiful artwork. The poems are so peaceful and the imagery is so clear in the words. It made me feel like I was sitting in nature as I read.
This is the perfect poetry for spring. I love how it not only captures the quiet moments of spring turning to summer, but also discusses how the things that died make way for new things to live.
Five stars for the exquisitely lovely woodblock prints, two for the somewhat puerile poetry, and negative stars for the rather shocking inclusion of a formerly live butterfly encased in transparent paper. Averages out to two and a half.
Gorgeous poetry that vividly sketches nature, regardless of the illustrations, which are gorgeous in themselves.
