The artwork is awesome, the rules wonderfully streamlined, the plot point...not as good. This book is clearly a love-note to the howard fan. If you intend to play the campaign, I strongly urge you to stop reading this review.
My issue is the same as it is with rippers, wiggy is an awesome writer and he often offers wonderful glimpses of insight in the craft of storytelling I could never hope to glean on my own, however, this is not his best plot point. The characters wander around collecting show more relics and visiting locals from the various stories. While not as obnoxious as Babylon 5's introduction adventure (one of the episodes translated directly into an adventure) it's still not actually very original. Far too many of the adventures seem to give you the impression that Kane's own journey's ultimately meant nothing, and after the final battle there is very little mystery left in the Kane world. A shame, considering in most kane stories we may understand why something happened but how is never fully explained, this book struggles to elaborate on the why and how.
Overall, a good work, just not pleased with the plot point. show less
