This is a very nice children's book that details how to properly care for a pet rat or mouse. It goes over not only the basics of care (housing, food, illnesses, etc.) but also how to properly prepare your own home for a new companion. There are plenty of pictures inside, as well as an overview of what differences exist between rat and mouse temperament.
While not the most in-depth book for a new owner, this is a great book to give to a child to help them understand the animal they now share show more their home with. This would prove a nice introduction, and easy to understand. Any child who reads this will likely seem a veritable expert on the species to their friends.
All in all, a very nice introduction for children. show less

A highly informative, compact, miniature encyclopedia of sharks- complete with good photographs and illustrations. Brilliant buy and library addition for anyone who has an interest in sharks. The reading grade level is mild to moderate- so younger audiences shouldn't have too much trouble comprehending and there is enough there to retain adult interest level as well. This book covers a large variety of species and presents all kinds of facts- from well known to more hidden or obscure stories show more and truths. show less

Nothing special, it is what it is. In fact, it's a little less than that, because the book design makes it harder to read even than the busy Eyewitness books. Too dense. Art sometimes illustrated the modern animals, sometimes the ancestors, photos also inconsistent in the same manner. Each critter, each page spread, was a new challenge to decipher, in other words.
Still, if an upper-primary student does have an interest in sharks, tarsiers, tuataras, etc., show more he'll probably enjoy this. show less

Didn't bother with the entire text - what I saw left too much information out, simultaneously cramming too much in. I requested it for the illustrations, as some were done by [a:Helen Ward|50069|Helen Ward|https://s.gr-assets.com/assets/nophoto/user/f_50x66-6a03a5c12233c941481992b82eea8d23.png]. But they didn't shine here - I'll stick to [b:Spots in a Box|22318468|Spots in a Box|Helen Ward|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1415583791s/22318468.jpg|41711640] and her editions of classic fables.
