This well researched volume covers all of the aspects of dreams in the arenas of art, religion, philosophy, psychology, and politics in history as well as the present day. By far the most detailed analysis of dreams covers the Twentieth Century, the time of Freud and his many pupils, whose work changed our approach to mental illness from one of revulsion to one of investigation and treatments. The book is well footnoted with an extensive bibliography, making it a reference work for anyone show more interested in dreams, whether of a scientific nature or more inspirational. show less
Ambitious, well written and researched, this fascinating work explores the historical role of dreams in the arts, politics, religion and psychology.
This is a nice all-embrasive book on dreams. It covers the history of the experience of dreaming. Andthose who have done research on dreams. It is not an interpretative guide to ones dreams, but might be a good adjunct.
Didn't actually read this, just went through it and got the overall gist of it.
