About the Author

James M. Saslow earned a Ph.D. from Columbia University and is professor of art history at Queens College and the Graduate Center, City University of New York. His previous books include Ganymede in the Renaissance: Homosexuality in Art and Society. He served for many years as East Coast arts show more editor of The Advocate, the national gay and lesbian newsmagazine, and was a cofounder of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies at City University of New York. In addition to acting as general editor of the Bibliography of Gay and Lesbian Art, he has published articles on the subject in numerous books and periodicals. He lives in New York City. show less
