Raised on television and video games, he began to notice in the mid-80s that the popular culture so familiar to him was infused with religious iconography and meaning. He earned his Masters of show more Theological Studies from Harvard University School of Divinity in 1996, where he worked with Harvey Cox. He is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Religion and Education at Boston College. He is a frequent contributor to National Public Radio and PBS, and is in high demand nationally as a speaker.
