The Surprise of Cremona: One Woman's Adventures in Cremona, Parma, Mantua, Ravenna, Urbino and Arezzo by Edith Templeton
I adored this. Mitford type Englishwoman abroad. When she does the travelogue stuff (on art and architecture) it's interesting and unusual, when she tangents, it's delightful, and hilarious. I'd love to know if that's how she meant it.
