It's really more of a survey than an in-depth discussion on any particular period or place during the middle ages, but the author does discuss specifics of everything from utensils to entertainment and peppers every chapter with many interesting anecdotes and quotes from primary sources, in middle english of course.

Other books might do better at providing information on food traditions in specific places, show more however Fast and Feast is a good place to start for the curious. show less
