I like the practicality of this book. The layout/style is efficient - in dialogue form - but I found that I had to be in a certain frame of mind to read and truly follow it. Then again, I read the book in less than a week - I couldn't stop because the more I read, the more I felt better about myself as a parent! I am reading the follow up book now... love and anger.
The sometimes-arduous task of raising children can incite complete frustration and anger in even the most patient parent. Love And Anger justifies the many, many circumstances that can make a parent angry and suggests constructive ways to express real anger to children without hurting or scaring them.
Enjoyed it. I have some anger issues and this book really had not only great tips for keeping a handle on it, but also made me feel like I could handle it.
The book discusses parental anger and some ideas with which to deal with it. Its value is that it gives a range of normal feelings that most parents have and makes suggestions of how to deal with feelings of anger and hostility. Includes an excellent bibliography of recommended readling.
