Reviews
“Killigrew RN” by Jonathan Lunn was an enjoyable first novel with swashbuckling adventure and sea-faring action. However, there were a number of scenes in the novel when Mr. Lunn’s overall story becomes a bit muddled with seemingly cookie-cutter characters and disjointed situations. In addition -and in all fairness- comparing Mr. Lunn’s novel to a Mr. Forester’s or Mr. O’Brian’s is inaccurate, Mr. Lunn does not wrap himself in the minutiae of the age like these authors do.
Promising start of a series on Victorian Era (in this case 1847) Royal Navy. Derring-do against the slave trade.
Not a very interesting period for the Royal Navy. However, it does demonstrate the role of sailors and ships between wars.
