My parents gave this to me as a birthday gift. Of course, this was before the internet when you could just look up this stuff with a click of a mouse. Excellent and colorful, well organized and clear, I used this many times to find places in the world or just plot an adventure!
As with most maps or charts that are supplements to the National Geographic magazine, this is beautifully produced. On one side is an excellent map of the Japanese archipelago, with inset maps and also with additional historical and geographical information. On the other side is an illustrated History of Japan, with a chronology ('Scroll of a Nation').
The Complete National Geographic: Every Issue Since 1888 Of National Geographic Magazine on Your Computer by John Hyde
Most excellent resource to have if you love National Geographic Magazines but have no room for them and can't find articles when you need them. Hands-down needed in any educated household - that is until 2007-2008 when it was made. That's the only drawback - you have buy the next edition to keep current.
Bought it for the Titanic article. It was fairly good, though not very comprehensive on the subject.
