The best part of 97 Ways to Make a Baby Laugh is its introduction as it describes the joyful sound of a baby laughing and the lengths adults will go to cheer up a crying baby.

The book then goes on to outline 97 methods to make "Baby" laugh. Some of the suggestions are no brainers (like blowing bubbles through a straw into a beverage) and some might be cute if "Baby" is part of a large extended and nearby family. The bulk of them though are real handcraft that sound destructive, time show more consuming and to use marketing speak, have low ROI.

Unlike this fictional "Baby", infants aren't tyrants. They are actually easy to entertain assuming they aren't sick and have had their basics needs met (namely they are fed, dry, comfortable and well rested).

Used for Go, Baby, Go! baby storytime 11/12/10.

I wish this was still in print in the picture book size because our library's copy is going to fall apart sooner rather than later and this a perfect baby storytime book. A brief, interactive text that's not boring complemented by lots of photos of babies. I love that the babies are of all different ethnicities. Even the endpapers have interactive possibilities if this were used as a lapsit - the front has items that are likely to be familiar to show more babies with their words printed next to them and the back has a baby with body parts labeled. I guess the next step is to have our graphic artist make a laminated storyboard, but I know not every library is lucky enough to have that option. show less
I just happened upon this book at the library and threw it in my bag. Who knew that this would be one of my baby's favorites? She just loves it! When she sees the babies doing what they are doing on each page she tries to imitate them, and it's so cute! She starts clapping her hands when I turn to that page, and throws her arms up over her head when I ask how big is baby. Too cute. Now, my only negative for this book is that some of the pages don't have a clear activity that my baby can do. show more For example, the page on Go Baby Go! has several pictures of babies doing something, but there's not really anything specific that my baby can do (she can't walk yet). Well, I'm going to be buying this book soon, so we'll see how things change as she get's older. show less
"Wow! Babies" contains pictures of babies with different captions. For example: "Happy Babies" includes two pages of smiling, laughing babies. "Pretty Babies" includes pictures of babies in the bathtub, getting their nails clipped, or having their hair shampooed. This concept book is obviously for very young readers and teaches basic emotions and portrays everyday experiences.
