My gosh, what a delightful, insightful afternoon's read! Reading Julia Sweeney's "If It's Not One Thing It's Your Mother" is like when you're getting to know that amazing woman you just KNOW will be friends with you for life. She's candid, funny (obviously), pragmatic, fanciful - the entire enchillada. And what a writer! I'm recommending this book to everyone - please, please buy it and read it. I can't wait to buy her other books now that I've read this one.
Simply brilliant!. You'll laugh, cry, and snicker inappropriately. Sweeney takes snippets of life and wraps it in warmth. I felt like I was in the favored seat of the town gossip.
Heart, soul, humor, truth...what more could you ask for? Delightful read from an extremely talented humorist. A more sophisticated Erma Bombeck.
A wonderful, witty and lively telling of this actress' probing of the anthropomorphic god idea to finally embrace atheism.
