Hmmm, how to describe "The Dughters Grimm"? I'm STILL laughing my a** off! Can I just say that Minda Webber apparently never met a fairy tale, spoonerism, sexual double entendre, or adage that she didn't like! They're ALL here, interlaced in a wacky romance about two sisters in the late 1700s looking for husbands (and creatures from lore). DON'T expect this book to be historically accurate. DON'T expect this book to have even one full chapter of seriousness. And DON'T expect not to enjoy the show more hilarious, crazy, and mixed-up antics of these two Daughters Grimm.
Rae is the beauty...and she sure knows it. For half of the book, she's not very likeable. But she is the poster child for blonde jokes everywhere! And her hero? Well, she doesn't get exactly what she thought she wanted, but she does get exactly what she needed to be happy.
Greta is the smart one. She's also the one who's dedicated to discovering the realities of things that go bump in the night. She's much more interested in her invesitgations than in finding a husband. So it's a good thing her future husband is happy to hunt for her!
Is this book silly? Yes. Is this book entertaining? Absolutely. Will you laugh? Without a doubt. This author's linguistic gymnastics will amuse and amaze you. Any author who can use all the language tricks and ancient tales while still turning out a very readable plot is a genius in my book. I LOVED it! show less

Upon the death of her uncle in Calcutta, Emily Collins sells out and plans to return to England when she is approached to escort 3 children to their uncle's in England. She agrees knowing what it is like to be abandoned and wanting to make the transition easy for the children. Oliver Carson, rake, has been beset by his grandmother to uphold an old promise made to his grandfather to marry before he turns 36. He wheedles some time by saying he has a house party planned but will consider it show more upon his return. Needless to say he is not up to par for taking on the children and Emily makes up her mind not leave until he has mended his ways. Fun Regency era story. show less
Elizabeth's friend Julia receives an invitation to visit a distant cousin who has decided to bring 3 relatives (young women) to her home to determine whom she will make her heir. Her mother cannot accompany her and she asks Elizabeth to join her. When they arrive they are introduced to Maya and her mother and Imogene and her step-brother, the Major of the title. This is an interesting premise since the H/h are support figures to the main event. There are definitely machinations and jockeying show more for position but not backbiting between the girls. There is another villain in the background. Nice read. show less
This book is going right to the top of my favorites list!! Miss Whiting is a strong and resourceful young woman. She gets tossed into a raging river and survives to be rescued buy 7 little brothers, who have lost there mother. Our hero comes along and is supposed to find the means to evict the family, so his friends family can use the cottage. He's pretending not to know the landlord, she's pretending to be the 7 boys mother. A very delightful read
