Like Love and Respect by Eggerichs, this book attempts to reset how we see marriage and family, but it shifts the focus to an individual approach. Following one couple from near divorce and near suicide to a fully restored home and couple that are primed to reach others for the same one on one miracle that places God in the center of everything rather than an added activity for an already busy schedule. This would be a great book to recommend to couples who want to deepen their relationship show more with each other and with God. show less
Filled with good advice for any marriage, this study style book is broken into short chapters. Each one deals with a different subject, money, sex, in-laws, etc. and includes discussion questions at the end. Some information is repetitive, but still relevant. The big themes are respect, love, making Christ the center of your marriage and letting go of selfish desires.

Dennis does a great job of laying out the path of manhood for a generation of men who have little to point the way. Using great stories and gift for inspiration he lays out the five steps of manhood: boyhood, adolescence, manhood, mentor, patriarch. There is something in here for every man!
This is a wonderful book for couples about to get married. What better way to start off your married life than on a foundation of God's word. I believe this is one of those things that is invaluable. To teach a couple to study God's Word together before they enter the marriage relationship. Then once they are married to study God's Word is second nature to them.

I was very impressed with the lay out of this book and the fact that it ends each section with questions and scripture to study and show more contemplate. I think this would be a good book for the couple to work through as they are going through their premarital counseling. The discussion questions and scripture give the couple an opportunity to express their faith to each other.

I would recommend this as a gift to newly engaged couples or to those entering premarital counseling.
