Some of the sections are better than others, but generally well done. The illustrations are also helpful to the writing. Gives a good general outline to those not familiar with Canadian history.
A basic, cooperative history, often used as the university textbook. the contributors are all famous in their specialties in this field. A good preparation for further work.
Popular history, accompanied by 300 illustrations which add a parallel commentary to the text. Canada's history is recounted in six sections, each by a different historian: Arthur Ray, Christopher Moore, Graeme Wynn, Peter Waite, Ramsay Cook, and Desmond Morton. The illustrations make it a nice coffee table book, good for browsing for pleasure as well as a useful reference.
On the cover, the book editor is named as Craig Brown, who is also known as Robert Craig Brown, the author of several show more books on Canadian history. I have edited his name accordingly, to prevent confusion on the "Craig Brown" author page in LibraryThing. show less
