Ok, I would have enjoyed this, I believe, when I was a child. I made similar creative attempts for my dolls. But I had to make everything from scraps, salvage, glue, and colored pencils. I can't help but feel resentful that Schaapman has pocket money and access to real tools....

Anyway, her taste in domestic scenes doesn't match mine, either. Too dingy, distressed, cluttered, and claustrophobic. I guess that's apt for mice, but still, I don't really care for it. And the stories are retro to show more the point of twee.

Otoh, all the above is *my* opinion. If you're interested, by all means see if your library has a copy.

A simple sort of story, just a sequence of scenes set in a most unusual and quirky 'doll' house where the inhabitants are mice. The house itself is ever so much more interesting than the adventures Julia and Sam have moving through it. I collect miniature tools and saw a set I've come across often, along with a couple of other miniatures I recognize.
Forget the stories; they're not especially interesting. But OMG, you have got to spend some time studying the elaborate mouse mansion. This is some awesome model-making. The little mice are cute, but the house is worth gazing at for untold hours. All the detail.

Dit boek is echt super leuk. Het is ook pedagogisch verantwoord want er staat in dat papa en mama soms weg kunnen gaan en dat er dan een oppas kan komen en dat dat super leuk kan zijn.
