Revelation: The Apocalypse of Jesus Christ (Blackwell Bible Commentaries) by Judith Kovacs
I had the priviledge of taking two of Prof Kovac's classes at UVA. Believe me, she knows her stuff and this book proves it. If you want to know anything about the historical circumstances of Revelation, READ THIS BOOK! It is very dense with material and not a word is wasted.
