Hard boiled wound up for the 1980s. A serial killer's serial killer literally bigger than life. If it's possible, metaphors for metaphors all delivered at a breakneck pace.
Rex Miller’s Slob, the first in the Chaingang series, stars homicide detective Jack Eichord. This 1987 novel is a crime story, but given that it deals with a brutish, cannibalistic serial killer, Daniel Bunkowski, who weighs more than 400 pounds, this might also be classified as horror. It’s gory, it’s gruesome, and Stephen King is Miller’s “number one fan,” so don’t pick this one up unless you’ve got a strong stomach.
