This is a intimate but not overly detailed look at the Sinatra career through the late '70s. The journalist author was on the outs with Sinatra when he wrote this, and the circumstances of that break -- much ado about nothing it seems -- feels revelatory. In his own words Earl wrote :"I write about a thousand words of chitchat, about the celebrities and the smellebrities, the big names and the big heads, the Who's Who and the Booze Who . . . . " He brought the New York City Entertainment business to million of homes with his columns. In his column, which was called "It Happened Last Night." Mr. Wilson followed the self-imposed rule "never to print any gossip that would break up a marriage."
