This is not really a translation of the Book of the Dead at all. It is a book of prose poetry inspired by the Book of the Dead. I think much of it is rather beautiful (marred by occasional lapses into mere sentimentality) and could well be adapted to use in ritual.
A beautiful piece of creative writing, but calling it a translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead is somewhat misleading.
This is a very poetic rendering of what was intended to be a book of spells to help the deceased pass through the afterlife tests to achieve immortality at his final judgement.
