An excellent wide-ranging archaeological-based discussion of Bronze Age and Iron Age Ireland. Well illustrated with black-and-white plates and copious line drawing of sites and artifacts. Raftery's style is clear and engaging - I read it cover to cover and enjoyed it.
The must read, best in its genre book on Pagan Ireland and the iron age. Scholarly but accessible and above all, factual.
