As its title implies, this book presents a mini-biography of pop-star Elvis Presley by means of photos taken from throughout his life and career. The book is in large format (it measures 9.5" x 13"), commonly allowing one large or two medium- sized photos on each of its 96 pages. Most of the photos are shown in gray scale or brown tint, although some of the more recent ones are in full color. 125 photos are included.
The book is organized chronologically. Following a 4 page introduction, show more Chapter 1, "The Early Years," covers his childhood, his early performances, his appearances on the Ed Sullivan show and Steve Allen show, and his days recording with Sun Records. Chapter 2, "Elvis in the Army," portrays his induction, and photos from places he was stationed, in the US and Germany. Chapter 3, "Movie Roles," is filled with stills from his many films. These include "Love Me Tender" (his first film, from 1956), "Loving You" (1957), "Jailhouse Rock" (1957), "King Creole" (1958), "GI Blues" (1960), and "Blue Hawaii" (1961), through the 1970 documentary "That's the Way It Is". Chapter 4, "The Final Decade", shows images of his late- career performances, his wife and daughter, and his Graceland estate and his private jet. The book concludes with a discography, filmography, and bibliography, followed by a useful index to names, locations, and events. show less
