This was very well-done for what it was. It's awfully short, so there isn't a lot of depth (no pun intended), but it covers quite a lot ground all the same. It's a fine introduction to some of the sea's mysteries, from actual shipwrecks to the Loch Ness Monster, and I like that much of the information included here is not commonly known. If you're interested in lost submarines from the Cold War, you might enjoy this, but don't look for anything so mainstream (ha ha) as the Titanic or the show more Bismarck.

Oh, also, I really should mention the audio reader, who did a fantastic job with this one. He has an excellent voice for storytelling.

I think that this condensed biography achieved its goal of combining the military records with the ecclesiastical ones. It is the record of a man of his time with all the bloodthirsty aspects of war and politics as well as his ability to unite the people by declaring all religions legal. The author seems less than convinced that Constantine was a Christian than that he could intuit the way that the wind blew.
The audio is narrated by Dan Gallagher.
The Top 5 Most Notorious Outlaws: Jesse James, Billy the Kid, John Dillinger, and Bonnie & Clyde by Charles River Editors is a great book that gave lots of extra tidbits of info I didn't know about these characters. I love history and especially the onry ones, lol. My DNA came back that I had some link to Jesse James on my mother's side. I wasn't exactly pleased with the news but it was interesting. My ex-husband thought it was funny because I alway despised Jesse James and gang as show more murderers, he thought of them as heroes. This book was great in laying out the background of each, their life, and ultimate demise. Very interesting. I enjoyed it very much. Would recommend to others. show less

Unusually readable and well researched and documented thesis on the introduction and development of catacombs as introduced by the Romans. Filled with details of relevant history and some detailing of the perceived need for hidden burials of persecuted peoples of the new Jewish sect called Christian and how various leaders found them to be convenient scapegoats, the catacombs of Rome comprise most show more of this writing. The latter portion describes the other large areas and reasons for this type of necropolis located in Europe, most notably the ones in Paris, France. The bibliography also includes Web references, the most surprising of which is one of Rick Steves! An excellent read! show less
