A catalogue of an exhibition of art from the period 1900-1930 hosted by the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris in 1979 and which went to Moscow in 1981. This is the Russian language catalogue. The exhibition looked at the development of modern art in that period in both France and Russia, and draws on Russian collections. there are many well-known and iconic Russian and Bolshevik images, but the exhibition also covered sculpture, design, architecture, poster art, Agitprop, ceramics and theatre show more design. show less
Exhibition catalogue for Kawara’s exhibition at the Centre Pompidou.
Curated by museum director Pontus Hultén (1924-2006), the show featured 97
paintings, all constituting consecutive series of “Date Paintings” executed 1966-
75. A catalogue illustration shows four “Date Paintings” — 1-4 January, 1970
— displayed on top of the boxes which Kawara fabricated as part of the Today
series. The remaining images are close-ups of a “Date Painting,” the inside of one
of Kawara’s boxes, show more a display of Kawara’s binders recording the project, and a page
from Kawara’s journal. With an essay in French by Pontus Hultén (“On Kawara /
L’Art Comme Processus”).

Four artist's books in a cassette with a short text by Pontus Hulten published by the Centre Pompidou in connection with the exhibition under the same titel from January 31 until 7 March 1977. Offered by AbeBooks UK for GBP 48,66 in March 2024. The booklet by Hreinn Fridfinnson is untitled, that by Kristján bears the title 'lignes plus rapides et plus lentes - faster and slower lines - (lignes tracées au stylo sur papier buvard) - (lines drawn with a fountain pen on blotting paper), that show more by Sigurdur Gudmundsson 'Journey-Book) and that by Ben Sveinsson 'Je l'embrasse si Elle m'embrasse. show less
