I loved this book way more than I thought I would. And I've really become an Iger fan.

This is a memoir (even thought he says in the book this is not a memoir) as well as a book on leadership.

The book is broken into two parts: Learning - Leading. Through stories about his career, he gives insight into good and bad leadership. Iger started working for ABC before it was purchased by Disney and he eventually became Disney's CEO. During his tenure, Disney purchased Pixar, Marvel, Lucas Films, show more and 20th Century Fox.

I loved how Iger seems like a regular, normal guy who just happens to be CEO of the largest entertainment company in the world. This book is not a tell all, is not gossipy or vindictive. Instead, it emulates how he lead Disney for 15 years. He is thoughtful and compassionate but also decisive and direct.

I will remember many of his stories for a long time to come and try to emulate some of his leadership skills.

Robert does a masterful job of conveying business lessons through riveting storytelling. He’s an excellent writer. I enjoyed the background on the various Disney acquisitions and have a new-found respect for Iger as a man. The tales of Pixar with Steve Jobs, LucasFilms with George Lucas and the 20th Century Fox deal with Robert Murdoch were so well written. It reads like a page-turning action film, something the creatives at Marvel should marvel at.
I thoroughly enjoyed the author’s memoir concerning his tenure at ABC’s Wild World of Sports, then ABC entertainment, the merger with Disney followed by Disney’s acquisition of Pixar, Marvel and Lucas films just to name a few. It provided an inside look at the mechanics of the industry and the art of negotiation.
Mr. Iger also includes insightful leadership qualities a business person might adopt.

Really like Bob Iger and his values/personality. Enjoyed the come up of his career and loved seeing how he leads. I thought the second half of the book when he is CEO was really cool, super interesting reading about the three acquisitions (Pixar, Marvel, Lucas Films) and then 21st Century Fox. A lot of parallels I can see in my career and good lessons to strive for.
