This book is an oversized horizontal paperback. It has both the story behind each of the scenes as well as how it was embridered by its maker. There are instructions for those who want to recreate it for themselves. My only problem with the book is it's gorgeous fonts. I just can't read floral fonts any more. My middle aged eyes won't allow it. I had to read it with my glasses off and the book close to my face in order to read it.
An excellent book for people who want to learn to design. It's aimed a embroider's, but really, if you want to design other things, but know how to embroider, you would probably get a lot out of at least the early chapters in the book. Each section has exercises to help you experiment with the concepts presented in the chapter.
Experimental knitting, crochet, and embroidery in combination. Encourages the fibre artist to put different fibres together and create unique effects. Guidelines for experiments walk the novice through the design process. There are step-by-step instructions for several projects, but even in these the leeway given is immense and the final result will be different from anyone else's.
An excellent guide to knitting for children, without much photos to age it. The patterns in the back are pretty timeless and include toy clothes and coffee covers.
