Reagan: In His Own Hand by Kiron K. Skinner

This book puts to bed the rancid, biased belief that Reagan was a mental cipher that had naïve political ideas. This book shows Reagan to be intelligent and intellectual, though not erudite like Buckley. Reagan was not a mental dimwit, this book proves it.
