Very enjoyable. Plot was solidly constructed but not overly predictable, characters were likable, even though they had some homicidal tendencies, lots of humor and action and a sort of noir light feel to the whole thing

like the Bangkok 8 series, this book gives a horrifying idea of what life is like in Thailand. It is not for the faint of heart. be prepared to encounter the worst kind of depravity and abuse you can imagine, with children as victims. That said, I felt the overall tone of the book was optimistic. It feels a bit noir-like, people with their own code trying to survive in a dark world. Will try more

I don't know why this book didn't cut it with me. I really wanted to like it but I just kept finding myself thinking about other books. It wasn't nearly funny enough to keep me going.

I received [b: King Maybe: Junior Bender #5|25937722|King Maybe (Junior Bender, #5)|Timothy Hallinan|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1459281766s/25937722.jpg|45835073] by [a: Timothy Hallinan|274986|Timothy Hallinan|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1285073991p2/274986.jpg] by approval of Soho Press. NetGalley issued this novel to me in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Junior Bender novel. "King Maybe" is #5 in a series but does stand alone well. The writing is good. If you love high suspense and are looking for a guy's book this is it. The writing and subplots are good.

I recommend going back and starting at the beginning of the Junior Bender series. Not because of following the subplots or character, but because you will want to anyway.

I am compelled to start at the beginning of this honorable thief's career. I want to meet him early on, when he still had a lot to learn. My curiosity drives me to meet some of the colorful if not benign characters. They are all well developed and three dimensional in "King Maybe"

Hallinan is a man's man author. It would not be a surprise to see an HBO series or movies based on the Junior Bender series.

There were times while reading this that I forgot to breathe. [a: Timothy Hallinan|274986|Timothy Hallinan|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1285073991p2/274986.jpg] is a gifted writer. I look forward to more journeys through locked windows and iron gates. Beating the top rated alarm systems, and real bad guys.

Timothy Hallinan has a new fan.
