Meh. Jenny McCarthy is not known for her writing skills so I shouldn't have been surprised. I did the audio version, read by the author herself and it still wasn't very funny. I enjoyed Her pregnancy memoir "Belly Laughs" so I thought I'd like this. She should stick to comedy and leave the self-help to the experts. Dissspointed.

I also had personal issues that tripped me up. The doctor talked about adopting a child with autism as though he was doing a great humanitarian thing (I felt like he deserved an award or something). As a mom of three kids with special needs who happen to be adopted, I was a little grossed out by his explanation. I wish I could explain why but words escape me lately.… (more)

I am totally inspired to look at how I care for my daughter in a different way. People that work with her comment frequently that her disabilities resemble autism. Because it is not one of her many, many formal diagnoses I've never looked into to. When you are already drowning, the last thing you need is more water. Well, this book is oxygen. My favorite quote: "There is no Ronald McDonald House for us, no wing at St. Jude's to offer help, or even hope." This book gives me hope. And right now, that is what I need.… (more)
