About Me

I have always loved to read. My primary reading interests are literary fiction, historical fiction, and non-fiction. In non-fiction, I enjoy history, exploration, memoirs, biographies, science, and psychology. I'm fond of books related to the arts. I occasionally read contemporary fiction, science fiction and, more rarely, fantasy. I tend to avoid romance, horror, thrillers, and paranormal. I am not a reader of books in a series, with a few exceptions. When I was younger, I read as many classics as I could get my hands on.


When assigning a rating, I consider plot, characterization, structure, engrossment, writing style, feelings & thoughts inspired, and originality.


My rating scale is:

5 star: I loved it! Outstanding! Exceptional! Highly recommended! I count it as one of my all-time favorites.

4 star: I liked it a lot. Enjoyed it and would recommend it!

3 star: Overall I liked it or had mixed feelings about it, liked parts of it but didn't care for certain somewhat important aspects

2 star: I didn't like it but it had some redeeming qualities

1 star: I really didn't like anything about it (this is rare for me, as I tend to screen books pretty carefully before reading them)
