About My Library

I love true stories, gritty nonfiction that does not hold back and brings the reader into the experience. You may like my books on the wild Sixties, I'm giving the lie to the myth that we who lived it don't remember. Too many are afraid too squeamish to admit their part in the drama.

About Me

I was born in Chicago in 1952 and am writing a series of wild memoirs. CHICAGO RAGE, HOME AT THE EDGE, PARTY AT THE EDGE OF THE RAINBOW, and soon to be released, TEENAGE RUNAWAY, all published by Tumbleweed Books. Truth is stranger than fiction. At 15 I ran away to New Orleans and lived on Skid Row until a priest betrayed me. I still craved freedom, so at 17 I dropped out to explore the radical counterculture, and after a stint in jail, and then in the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's madhouse, I Joined a commune in Wisconsin. In 1975 I hitchhiked across Europe and Africa, working and loving my way on a roundabout Buddhist pilgrimage to Nepal. My book Home at the Edge is a Finalist in the 2024 IAN Book of the Year Awards in the category of Non-Fiction: History. And I also received the PenCraft Book Award. They wrote: "We are pleased to announce that our judges of the 2024 PenCraft Book Awards for literary excellence voted your book HOME AT THE EDGE, as our Non-Fiction - Autobiography Genre’s Runner-Up Winner.
