I couldn't find What The Bee Knows, not even Mary Poppins by Travers. What the hell is this site anyway?!
"57,313,610 books!" to wipe your asses!

Click the search box in the top-right.

Type What The Bee Knows

Press enter

Result:
What the Bee Knows: Reflections on Myth, Symbol, and Story (Arkana) by P. L. Travers (29 copies)

Type Mary Poppins by Travers

Press enter

Results:
Mary Poppins by P. L. Travers (1,575 copies)
Mary Poppins in the Park by P. L. Travers (462 copies)
Mary Poppins Opens the Door by P. L. Travers (487 copies)
Mary Poppins Comes Back by P. L. Travers (574 copies)

and so on.

Perhaps this internet thing just isn't for you.

Maybe the newbie got "confused" by the bug that causes the search coming up empty (at clicking the icon instead of pressing enter).

I'm just intrigued to know how many asses Tyfyh has got.

ETA - I suspect the OP may have been searching his/her own library. As he/she hasn't entered any books yet that would explain why no search results are coming up.

3> It's quite possible. I think they were also confused by an expectation of common courtesy.

Maybe they were expecting free books.

This is not an ebook site. It's a book cataloging site.

"This user has been removed."
There is some small justice in the world.

9brightcopy

Justice? I'd say it highly unlikely that Tim removed them. Not his style. More likely that the user deleted their account having successfully accomplished their goal.

Nope. I'm pretty sure that the red "this user has been removed" statement means that the powers-that-be did the removing.

Just for curiosity, did anyone happen to notice when the OP joined? I mean, had they been here a while or was it a matter of an hour or so (or minutes)?

It was recent, the same day I think, though I wouldn't know about hours or minutes, as your profile just shows the day you joined, not the time.

That was why I assumed that it was a newbie who didn't understand the purpose of the site/

16Nicole_VanK

Yeah, same day. I checked.

It's a bit sad that they didn't look hard enough, got the wrong impression, and are probably now off somewhere online venting their spleen about LT. Their loss, I suppose.

And flagging the OP is just inconveniencing members who want to know what the thread is about. Tyfyh's gone folks (horses and stable doors) - what more do you want?

17> It's sad that this person is the way he/she is; it is not sad that thet left.

19> All true, but if past experience is anything to judge by, just pissing Tim off isn't usually enough to make him take measures rather than letting the community manage itself. But I have no inside info so that's just my best guess.

I think the outburst (inappropriate or not) was a result of the bug mentioned in message #3. I understood the rant immediately upon reading that post, with the difference being that when I got zero results to any of my search inquirires, I politely tried to figure out why. A newbie would not have known how to do that (or perhaps didn't even know that it was a bug).

#21 Any reason why you think a newbie would not know how to do something politely? Just interested.

"(inappropriate or not)"

I agree that the *tone* was inappropriate. Rather than get an answer, the OP, in effect, turned off anyone who otherwise might have tried to help.
