Wow. I almost chose that exact same ticker. I built it and everything ... but then I decided I wanted a bunny.

Gargh! Threads everywhere! 75ers are the chattiest bunch of people I've ever known. It's why I love it here.
I note the reading plan space is not yet populated with plans. I shall return.

I'm just getting caught up with the intro thread (hopelessly behind!) so I thought I'd come say hi on your thread since we tend to run into each other quite a lot in these parts. :-)

Well howdy, thanks for stopping by. Pull up a stool and set a spell. I won't be adding much here until the weekend, even though Richard seems to think I need A Plan.
15Smiler69
Meh. Plans shplans. Plans are what people do to make themselves feel like they're accomplishing something without actually doing it. I know what I speak of since that's how it always feels to me when I make them. Besides, in my experience, plans are only fun when you break them. Did I just say that? Ignore that. I don't know what I'm talking about. I need to get to bed! lol

What plan is needed? All we need to do is pick up a book and start reading it when it is finished put it down and then pick up another one and read that - repeat 75 times!!!!
I don't have a plan - is this a bad thing?

I don't have a plan this year either. I'm just going to allow myself to gorge on whatever books look good to me at the time, even if it means I read nothing but the same author or the same genre until I've overdosed. :)

Happy New Year Terri! Looking forward to revisiting your thread in 2011 - just stopping by to star it (see, I'm starting the year in an organised fashion!)

Hi there Terri, my plans are very simple for this year: wait for end of month, try to find hidden TIOLI thread, look at what's offered, match some books from my shelf, over-commit myself, and start reading. Simple.
24teelgee
That's a great plan Bonnie. I've been doing that and trying to match up 1010 books this year, will repeat with 1111 books in 2011. So I don't really have to give this much thought, and my 1111 books practically choose themselves once I have my categories.
Happy new year to you, Sally, and to everyone here!

I'm doing something similar to Bonnie and yourself. I've already matched all the books I've listed for this month's TIOLI on my 1111 thread. There's plenty of books on my shelves I truly want to get to, and although I have the best of intentions, I know I won't be able to resist getting new ones as the year goes by, which is why I also made a category for 'recent acquisitions'! :-)
ETA: I just left you more New Years good wishes on your 2010 thread as wanted to cover all the bases, but I'll be following you here from now on.

Luxx! That's wonderfully bizarre!!! Iliana, yes, I'll be moving over here permanently after another post or two on my 2010 thread. One more party to go to today, then I'll settle in for a couple of days.

Happy New Year Terri.

1. A Reliable Wife by Robert Goolrick. I read this for my book group, otherwise would probably not have picked it. Overall, an enjoyable read. I liked it more than I thought I would, after reading some reviews. Dark story of desire and betrayals, some interesting twists (though the major one is easy to spot), characters that aren't quite believable. Recommend for a good escape. (3.5/5)

I have read rather mixed reviews of A Reliable Wife so, like Sally, I have not decided whether to give it a go or not either.
32rebeccanyc
I was one of the people who didn't like it -- I felt it was much too repetitive and also that the author kept telling us stuff when I would rather have just seen what the characters themselves were able to see. On the other hand, I read/skimmed the whole thing just to find out what would happen at the end.
33teelgee
Yes, Rebecca, there was definitely that style of writing that I would get perturbed with from time to time.

#29 - I just started listening to A Reliable Wife. I found the first few chapters a little slow, but it seems to be growing on me.
36teelgee
>34 tiffin: Oh definitely a bit of that! Funny side note: when I mentioned "bodice ripper" to my book group the other night, most of them had never heard that term!!! I was kind of stunned!

Terri, did I miss a link? I think I have A Reliable Wife in my TBR's, but then it could be one of the other "wife" books-- I keep getting them mixed up.

Is this the first that I'm finding your thread, Terri?
I just am not keeping up. I have you starred now.

Here I am. January was a crazy month for me, lots of activities and projects that did not involve reading. So I have still read just one book for 2011! Have some catching up to do now that, hopefully, things have settled down.
41alcottacre
Glad to see you poke your head in around these parts, Terri! I hope things settle down for you soon.
42Berly
Terri!! So glad to see you. I know what you mean about a crazy January...here's to more reading!
44LovingLit
Hi, live your ticker! Only one book this year? It's one more than thousands of people, maybe you'll find some time soon?
