I have 50 little things to do, but nothing major that I know of yet. Right now I am waiting for the plumber.

What will you be doing?

Hopefully finishing the book I'm reading, I'd hate for the world to end while I still had a book on the go, hehe.

Mostly revision for an exam. Perhaps going out for a walk or two. Nothing spectacular, so the end of the world won't be too much of an inconvenience. ;-)

Bravely defying the rapture by going on vacation. California here I come.

Fun weekend ahead: going to see the new location of Elliott Bay Books today and having a mini-meet-up with Arctic_Stranger, who is in Seattle for a couple of days, this afternoon. Saturday, I am going in again to have coffee with a friend I've not seen for years. Sunday, in to Seattle again, to have lunch with the cousin I just found in the last couple of months, on Ancestry. Busy, busy, busy. And in between regular household stuff + YARD WORK. No rain this weekend. That is a big deal!

I'll be in Chicago for the Rapture. C's boss is taking us out for dinner and a show. Unfortunately, the show is Blue Man Group, so I hope the Rapture happens after dinner, but before the show starts.

Gardening mostly. On the 22 I will read the websites of the group proclaiming the end of the world. I am a little confused as to the wiether we're going to have rapture where only the "good and holy" disappear or total end.
In theory the rapture could happen and nobody was qualified.

Singing at a wedding Saturday afternoon, going to the opera Saturday night, singing a solo in church Sunday morning and going to a garden centre with my parents Sunday afternoon. With a good percentage of my weekend spent in church I should be fine, right? :-)

I'm avoiding the Rapture by being underground. Angel's can't get at me in a cave - it is at midday local time isn't it? I'd hate to surface at the wrong moment.

Sunday = chores.

#6 - What?!!! Oh, right. You hate Jazz. I love love love watching The Blue Man Group! :o) Maybe that will be your rapture. You'll be converted to Jazz Worship. :oD

Hmm, I keep seeing all this rapture stuff, but I have no idea what's going on.
As for my weekend, I work morning/afternoon everyday. I plan on working out after each shift. Saturday I'm going to a nerdy BBQ. Today I could go to an after hours video game party at the Microsoft Store in Mall of America. . . but I'm not sure if I'll be up for it. We shall see.

Well, I'm going to my dad's tomorrow, since I missed last weekend due to illness. Then, I'm going to come home, do laundry, read, putter in my library, and maybe wash the 2 bowls and a plate that are in the kitchen sink.

As for the RAPTURE, on the up side :-), if it happens, I won't have to pay off my credit card, so that's a good thing, right? On the down side, I probably will, since the credit card companies are the spawn of satan, and aren't going anywhere, and I'll obviously be reading a book, and miss the whole thing anyway.

"24th of May is the Queen's birthday. If we don't get a holiday we'll all run away!" Hooray for Canada's colonial roots and HM Queen Victoria and a long weekend, even if the holiday isn't the actual 24th this year.

Will start Saturday by dropping younger son at his job, hit a greenhouse for a few supplies, return my library books, then I'll be gardening for the rest of the weekend. I am behind with planting the veg and in this climate you can't mess about because the season is so short. I need to plant my home garden, community garden plot, next door's garden and the planters at my tai chi club. I figure about 800 square feet (75 sq. meters) if I add it all up. If I get all that done it will be rapture enough for me.

I had no idea that the world might end?!

Well if I'm still around, I'm doing the usual lunch/laundry at my parents tomorrow. Sunday my usual cleaning in the morning and my son is having a friend over for the afternoon.

As much as I really am looking forward to the Rapture, I hadn't planned on it happening tomorrow when I actually get a weekend off of work. Figures.

Anyway, if I'm here, I'll be playing house tomorrow. There are some dark and dirty corners which need cleaning out. Sunday my family will gather to celebrate my mom's birthday which was yesterday. Possibly I may crack open a book. I haven't all week.

I was hoping to go for a motorcycle ride this weekend but it looks like I will stay in and watch it rain.
Then sunday see if all the wackos have disappeared I know I'll still be here because its only taking the true belivers!

Is procrastination a sin? I may be in big trouble. I have a million things that I Should do. Is exaggeration a sin? Oh dear.
Will definitely row Sunday morning. Hubby and I will go out one night to celebrate eighth anniversary. Otherwise, garden, clean house, correspondence, bills.......the list goes on and wherever the non-raptured go it will still be there to torment me.

I second what tardis said (#14) about Queen Victoria and the long weekend. Hoping to get major work done in the garden AND get up the highway to do some paddling or hiking, but may not get both done. Still no canopy on the new truck, so might have to tent if I do go up and stay over. Lovely weather today, but rain predicted for Sunday - wish I could send it over to northern Alberta.

Hallalujah! Today was the last day for students at my Middle School! Whew! I've had great students this year, but I they need a break. Of course, work never really ends for a teacher. I have a workshop to attend and one to design that I'll be giving at the beginning of school next year. My summer will be busy.

Tomorrow I'm taking my nephew to see Pirates for his birthday; he's 12 today. We'll go to lunch and then to the movie; we'll eat too much popcorn and promise to never do that again.

Tonight, I'm having dinner with friends. I'm looking forward to a quiet dinner and total relaxation.

I'm going to the Giants game tonight, if my husband ever gets home. Tomorrow is roller derby. Sunday is a hike.

If the rapture comes, I'll be happy that my last night on earth was spent at AT&T Park.

I just shot an e-mail off to everyone in my address book to let them know that we'll be moving to California, and I'm picking my husband up from the airport tonight.

Tomorrow, I think we'll have to head to the in-laws to talk stuff over, because he has to head back to California next Wednesday to start is trial period. I'm just a little shell-shocked. ~_~

Sunday, we're hanging out with a wonderful friend we rarely ever see because she's so durn busy.

And seriously, what is all this "rapture" stuff??

Wine in the Woods followed by a BBQ at a friend's house. Sunday, just the usual stuff.

I have a quilting class I'll be going to with a friend and my mom. Sunday will be chores and reading. Got in a bike ride tonight and am hoping it's nice enough on Sunday for another one.

I did some marking already this morning. I'm going out later, possibly to buy a phone (eek!). I went to the theatre last night to see Much Ado About Nothing, done by Australia's premier Shakespeare Company (Bell Shakespeare). I'm sure it's not the same as seeing it with David Tennant and Catherine Tate, like my ex-housemate did in London, but we enjoyed it a lot. Don John wasn't a Keanu Reeves wooden man. He was a slightly camp, pimping villain, and he was having fun! Benedick as an Aussie bloke type was inspired, and the blocking was great, bringing out amusing things you just can't read in a script.

Pentecostal Christians believe that "the Rapture" is when Christ returns and catches up all the believers and takes them to Heaven. You're not dead, you're just "caught up" into the air and taken.

There has been some speculation in some of the stranger circles that the Rapture will happen this weekend.

I should probably be studying for my Philosophy of Education final, and will likely do some studying, but mostly quite a bit of reading and spending time with friends will be had.

Oh, I know what the rapture is, I've just been wondering why I've been seeing it all over the internet all of a sudden. Then later today I remembered a billboard in town that advertised JUDGEMENT DAY and listed a date, but no location. I've been thinking, "What a weird way for a band to advertise."

I know that we're not supposed to discuss religion here, but I just have to share this article: Pet-sitting Offered During Rapture
I'm technically a Christian (fundamentalists would still call me a heathen, though) but I don't plan on being taken with this rapture, so I'll watch your dog for you, too!

As penitence for probably crossing the line on the "no religion" rule, I'll go sit in the corner and watch as other people enjoy good cheese.

I'll be out this weekend with my fellow veterans collecting donations for Buddy Poppies. We don't actually "sell" them, we give you one for your generous donation. No spare change? That's fine, we'll give you one anyway.

I was out walking last evening and took this across an old fence between my neighbor's farm and mine. I woke up this morning to find that it was included on Flickr's Explore Page. That was cool to discover over my coffee an oatmeal (I'm trying to learn to like oatmeal, I would rather have grits!).

Pirates of the Caribbean today!

I was just thinking today I need to spend more time just wandering around with my camera. Thanks for the inspiration.

I've been a little under the weather for the past few weeks (chest infection... getting over it now, pretty much) and I haven't been out and about with the camera for what feels like a lifetime. That all changed today! I took a short stroll along the local canal and came back with one or two interesting shots, the first of which I would like to share with you all here:

As for the rest of the weekend, assuming that the world isn't going to end (it's looking kinda safe at the moment), I think I shall just take it easy, hopefully snap a few more close to home shots, and generally keep taking the pills...

I hope everyone is having a good and apocalyptic-free weekend :-)

#34 Great shot GD! The sunset colour / silhouette combination works really well - and congrats on a well deserved Explore place.

Oh, and I don't think I've mentioned this here yet, but I have another photobook out:

(end of shameless plug!)

May 21, 2011, 12:33 pm

#38 I love the texture in that first picture. I usually don't care for black&white photos because they're overdone, but you made good use of them. You can see the fibers and veins of the leaf more easily, and the subtleties in the snail's shell. I like snails. They make me smile. Mind if I put this under the "It Made Me Smile" thread? I'll give you full credit. :)

May 21, 2011, 12:41 pm

Thank you both, and Rozax of course you can :-) (I'm glad it made you smile).

And thanks Maggie, I decided to spread the cover image right across the front and back of the book. It seemed to work quite well with the white cover text.

I spent most of the day snorkeling on the Flint River in Southwest Georgia. It might have been 98 degrees here, but it was so cold in the water! It was nice to finally get back in the water.

I also took some time to clean out the utility/wash room today. It was more fun in the river.

Had lunch with a cousin I recently "discovered" through Ancestry.com. He and I met a couple of times when we were kids at one Aunt's house and we reminisced about her house which really was an old fashioned cabin in the woods, with a wood burning stove, and a row of double beds in the basement for everyone to sleep in. She was steps away from the lake and it was a great place to spend summers.

We had a great time remembering and sharing things we've learned that the other didn't know. I also met a nephew of his, and his family of a former wife, and two kids. Fun.

Yesterday, I had coffee with a friend I'd not seen for years. We ended up listening to a woman talk about her book (we were in a used book store/coffee shop) and were a part of a beginning of a new support group. Also, fun.

It has been an especially busy, fun weekend.

#14 & #19 - weird, I never knew her actual birthday was in May, I wonder why we dont get our public holiday here in Aus until 13th June???

I was at a cousin's wedding on saturday, its not the greatest photo coz I quickly snapped it between pics being taken by the official photographer & the lighting's all wrong, but she looked pretty speccy (IMHO) so heres a pic:
