Fabulous, Mamie.. Thank you !

I did not sleep well last night.. long story, but I wish I could have gone back to sleep..I tried, but no luck.
Life goes on! Dan is leaving early for work today. He will leave at 9 so he will be up shortly. He is doing an extra half shift for whatever reason.

It was humid here yesterday.. still is. Yuck!

Perhaps because of Caro's ghosties and spirits.. the dream that woke me this morning ( not, why I didn't sleep well.. no worries) was of my friend Mary's mom calling me. It was Mary's birthday ( it isn't) and her mom was calling to tell me that she was there ... ( in spirit). Then she asked me to hold on a minute... while I was "on hold" I woke up, still feeling like I was holding the phone with my shoulder, to my ear. Waiting. It took me a minute to realize....

What will I do with my day?

Sorry you did not sleep well last night :(
Must be because I neglected to tuck you in???

It is raining here - and humid. Ick!
Gotta find some a/c - maybe shopping.

Do you eat before you go to bed? You have a lot of dreams!
I suppose I do too - just don't remember... except for the angry ones that stir me up... usually about working at the place I will not mention :P~~~

Hope Dan going to work early gives you a better day.
A day to goof off and do only the things you want to do.

Wow, I was just looking at your list of books, Kath. You are up to #99? I think I missed the 75 celebration, or is it just my lousy memory? So next will be #100, huh? Very fine; lots of good books there.

34mckait
Aug 28, 2012, 10:24 am

hmmmm Cee, I had an Edy's lemon fruit ( frozen) bar last night? Most nights I don't eat before bed, especially lately. Dan and I had an argument before he left. He was irritated because he couldn't find the fishing license that I went on line to get and print for him ( no comment ) I had put it in his table and told him the day I did it and asked him to put it away. He did not. Which led to me mentioning that he took the money for his trip ( part of what he needs ) out of the wrong account, because I told him weeks ago to go and get the money.. and he didn't so he forgot where to get it.. and said to me that I could just transfer the money right? So when I said, Dan if you would just do it promptly you wouldnt't forget and I wouldn't have to clean up the mess.... so he said I', leaving.... ( typical) I said see you won't ever talk about things. He said "I don't talk, you do... I just listen" I said yes, that is the problem, you refuse to talk.. so he slammed out of the door. I then went and got the money out of the OTHER place he had money and sorted it out so he could be ready to go. I am such a bitch! I then stopped at Aldi to get some fruit, and I found bed pillows
( yay). So I got new pillows for the guest room, and put new ones on Dan's bed... one of them the pillow I bought him a year ago and he still had sitting on his dresser. ahem. So I sorted that out. and I think I am now free for the day. Maybe I will get to se the nephlets? Some days it really gets me down, you know? I can't get him to switch off his days off for me, so I can go away without worrying abou the furkids.. but he will do it to go to a protest or for other things. Sometimes it really gets me down.

Terri.. yeah.. I finished 100... I have to write a review and I will post it .. It's a Vine book..
You didn't miss anything. I didn't post anything about hitting 75.. just plowed on :) I hope I hit you with blue text now and then, heaven knows you get me often!

Onward! After I eat a clementine :)

Today... oil change, supper out with the ladies, and starting a new book - The Crossing Places - interspersed generously with laundry and breathing very chilly windy air! Refreshing sea air! Ahhhhhh.....

I kinda dread the oil change. There is a very obnoxious woman that works there (daughter of the owner). Everyone hates her and she has driven employees and customers away in droves. But the mechanics are good and the work is reasonable as long as you don't let them talk you into all kinds of unnecessary stuff. Ron usually handles all car maintenance but he is working today with a friend. I need to be strong and ignore the witch. Wish me luck :{

Yay for no heavy work! I think you've done enough to last you the rest of the year. :)

Mall date with other moms today, hopefully Caleb will expend all his energy there instead of destroying the house. Lots of laundry to wash, dry, and fold, as we are heading out of town at the end of the week...eek!

Have a great one, Kath.

Cee.. You have my respect for dealing with it. I HATE waiting for car work .. hate it. I have to say that is something that Dan will do .. and if he isn't able to, I cancel. I wish you the strength not to bip the nasty woman who works there.

Valerie.. I know.. My muscles agree with you :) I finally did the last of it, today I cleaned the lamps and that is the end for sure :) I love the lamp that was given to me with the bedroom set. I can't have it in my room, because my kitties would knock it over.. and it is very fragile.. but it is lovely :) Well, I htink so, my sister thinks it's ugly.. so that worked out :) Have lots of fun at the Mom's Mall Day :) That little one of yours is a doll!

Mamie :) Safe home! (((Mamie)))I have had you on my mind, too sis.. No worries about Dan.. I went down to see the nephlets today and it was fun:) Oliver was a little wild, but mom made him behave ( yay! ) and Owen, bless him, is almost crawling . I will have to post a pic later. He is so mellow. And ysterday, Kim made some baked/breaded green tomatoes. and they are yummy. Kim has magic fingers and can make breading stick to anything... anyway, she sent leftovers home with me.. she is a wonderful cook!

56mckait
Aug 30, 2012, 7:13 am

Ha! nope. I just looked at the number the other day.. and I had already put up book I had been reading. So I am about halfway through 100 now.. Fallen Masters will be 100. I hope to have some more time than I have had recently, when Dan is away. We shall see :)

I am having a "feels like friday" day. ugh! But friday is when Dan will be leaving..at 5 am. I will then do the floors and clean the house..and it will stay mostly clean most of the time he is gone. sigh. That is a goodness. I like my house to be tidy.

OMG Lobster, Cee? I do love lobster and cake :) You are on my list if party people for sure ! Even without the food!

Mamie, with or without beverages, you are welcome :)

Heck no Caro.. I want to sit back and look at the nice clean house for a week before he gets back and starts leaving things all over the place! Even the porch will stay tidy!!! yay!

And with luck he will come back in a better mood and maintain it for a week or so?

I have to wait for his friend to show up and pick up some of his stuff.....
But I ran down to see the nephlets for a few minutes this morning :)

64-Cee-

I totally understand the thrill of a clean house that stays clean because no one else around to immediately mess it up.
I swear. Everytime I clean off a horizontal surface - it suddenly attracts junk. Arrrrggggh!

For a week, Kath, do what you WANT to do! Woohoo! Free at last!

65richardderus
Aug 30, 2012, 9:17 pm

I've always wondered: Is the uterus some sort of tidy/clean/DON'T PUT YOUR FEET ON THE CLEAN FLOOR! mechanism? What is it that so appeals to y'all about the smell of bleach and Pledge? Never have understood that.

66Matke
Aug 31, 2012, 9:33 am

>65 richardderus:: It's all about protecting the wee ones from eating bad things...of course, some of us then become a bit over-the-top, but I've known many a man with the same sort of tidy gene. I'll always remember coming in from a bike fall and Mother yelling, "Don't bleed on the rug!!!"

Mornin' to Kath and all. Personally I find housework tediously repetitious, but certainly see the attraction of a clean, clear space.

And what are you going to do with your free week, Kath? Whatever it is, enjoy it to the fullest.

67mckait
Edited: Sep 1, 2012, 6:32 am

Hi Cee :) Yep... it's all about making it tidy. And I know what you mean about the flat surfaces.. sigh. I have the same problem. And yes.. clean is cozy, and I am willing to make the effort to get it that way. I just have to vac the LR and I'm done. I brushed Dunkers after I vac'd the first time..

rd... I don't understand not liking it tidy and neat. I don't like clutter... I do like neat. The uterus is also good for finding lost things ( Where's my keys, my phone, my shoes etc.. )

Hi Gail .. yeah.. that's where it starts to get serious, I think? Protecting the wee ones. I still do it partly to protect my furkids. I don't allow twist ties in the house :P I replace them instantly with clips when I bring bread or rolls hom. Crazy huh? That is why I freaked out so badly when Morgan found some string.. that is another that is practically hermetically sealed in my house. My sewing box is in a plastic bag in my drawer.

As I posted on FB, Today.. Up early.. house cleaned .Basement, too. I moved the weights to the corner and vac'd and washed the floor, put down a rug and moved the bike and the treadmill onto it. Theory being.. I can plug in a fan and put my computer on the washer to "Watch" hulo or something. Perhaps the bike and treadmill will not be left to collect dust. As much. :P Then I did the errands and shopping and am doing laundry. I will make chicken with celery, peppers and onion.. and a bit o rice! That will be my dinner today and tomorrow.
I am so thrilled to have this all done. I am also very achy. Pretty soon I will have tome to read.

I have to put clothes in the dryer and more in the washer.. and I will be back to catch up with all y'all

yes, Kath, I had a bit of fun with StrengthsFinder 2.0. I'm a competitive sort LOL, and once my son had done the test for work, I had to purchase the book just like he had and compare my " Strengths" so - called. My son is just 22 , and just recently graduated in computer science from University and employed in his field. He and I get along really well, but I can never understand why he does not read books or even the newspaper much. I guess he's just not a information gatherer like I am , and not a learner! :) LOL!!!! I think he is very focused in his information input, and unlike me, very stand back and assess. In some ways I found it the book to be interesting. He's is so normal and well adjusted , it's just WEIRD!!!! :) Older son - less forward focused and not all planned out.

Cee... transition? What transition? What am I missing ? I hate missing points .. sigh. I think I should go to bed, I am not making sense to me :PP

Hey Kath!
On my way to the rocky ocean cliff to toss my laptop in!
Too many times I get a double result when I click on something - what's up with that?
And when I try to highlight stuff - it works till I let go. Then it un-highlights. So I have to do this a million times before it holds. (did that make sense?)
Maybe it's the mouse that hates me. Oh heck - I'll throw that in too!

Hope you are enjoying your annual Peace Week!

Oh yeah.. finally finished that one. It took forever, for some reason...

Hi Joe, back at ya!

Thanks Terri, you too.. trying to do just that. I had to sign Dan up for a Water Treatment Class...and of course he never clicked the link to verify his registration, and his password ( which never changes ) wouldn't work on yahoo.. etc. But conquered that and I am about to open book number 101.

rd... I thought I was done with it after a couple of hours in the morning.. but then a random comment of yours set me off again. At least I was able to finish one book and start another in between :) And thanlk you for the DW Primer...

Thanks roni.. I think I am reading less than usual, but since I am not racing anyone to a finish line, I am unconcerned. I always pick 150 for my second counter, not planning or expecting to get there :)

Stas, you too, will get hooked on it, I am pretty sure. I was pretty confused at first.... here is my advice to you. If something seems to not make sense, don''t worry. It isn't you. Just keep watching.

Caro I agree. My sis is actually the one who pushed me to get a mouse, but it never did feel right. I have a smallish laptop, and smallish hands that fit each other perfectly. I love my mac ... sigh.

rd, I think if it was the first one I saw, that I wouldn't have even finished watching... I think the whole dalek thing would have put me off....I am very glad that I started watching in the morning, and so was sucked in
( Partly by AK) and so kept watching I am also quite pleased with the new Who. :) And the turn of events with ... the rest.

Deb... Thank you :)

Kim, I know, right? Life is good.

So there ya go.

Yesterday afternoon and evening were pretty rainy. Lots of sirens, some trees down and local flooding..all minor. More rain in the future. More of the same sort of thing expected. It looks like through Tuesday we will have rain. Hmm I guess I should still water the tree.

Kid call day.

Hi Lynda... I am tired... how about you ? ")
Joe, I told my niece my dream... she dreamed that Will Smith was trying to kill her..... family thing maybe?
Chelle, me too! what fun we would have... !

I did an errand or two and stopped in to see the nephlets... Owen is now crawling all over the place, and when I walked in he smiled and headed straight for me. :) Oliver had to show me all of his new activities.. and started pulling out all of his toys... lol. I only stayed about 45 minutes. I am so tired and achy :P

Hi Kath,
Sounds like the competition is heating up between the nephlets. Is Oliver going to any kind of nursery school this fall?

Would be kinda hard for me to dream of celebrities since I don't really know them. OK by me. Though it might be a nice replacement for my elevator nightmares.

In case you come here before FB:

"Had to tell you - we just got the BEST news....
Thanks to you THE BEAUTIFUL MYSTERY is number 2 on the New York Times bestseller list!!!! Wow. Number 2! I NEVER thought that would happen. thank you, thank you, thank you!!! (this list won't be published this coming weekend, but next - Sept 17th - just so you don't think I'm delusional). Yipppee. I've given up all pretense of being seemly. I'm unseemly all over Atlanta! Hi Deb...yeah... spammer.. bummer. Not a nice way to do business. I wonder if anyone has ever gained anything that way?

Mamie, I did not. I hoped to. But to my great delight, he saw me come in, and headed straight for me. He had a big smile on his face :D Of course I picked him right up and snuggled and hugged on him. And then after a while, he wanted to stand and jump. After a bit, we went to sit and have coffee and Oliver had WATER!!!!!! yay Kim.. no coffee for Oliver :) and Owen had baby puffy things that he works hard to pick up and put in his mouth. Also, he has a tooth. :)

Floo powder is our answer, RD

Valerie, I hope you had a good time, I had a playdate, too.

Cee, I had a busy morning, and then Went out to do errands ( return some jeans I bought that will no longer fit.. too big!) and get some cat litter and stuff. That was pretty exciting :)

Laura :) Nice to see you ! I understand that life can get in the way... no worries.. good to know that you are here and ( assuming) doing well?

Joe, no Louise Penny for me yet.. I will look forward to your thoughts..

Good morning.. erm... evening to you, my Breezy friend! I am happy to see you!

So I had dinner with my dear friend Jo. We worked together at the vet clinic. They are trying to push her out.. This is their modus operandi. They have tried before with her and failed... but soon.. she is outta there. I will be sad because the other techs don't give a ... well..

Anyway. Jo and I had a lovely 3 hour lunch. I think came home and scrubbed litter boxes and lugged trash up to the alley. Trash, recycling, and bound branches.. whew! Hot and humid. All in all a good day :)

I think tomorrow is a bath day for Duncan. If I'm not here by noon call 911 and tell them to check the basement. :P

Sep 6, 2012, 8:26 pm

I'm so glad you got to have a good long lunch with Jo. It's a shame they're trying to push her out.

Yikes. I'm trying to do LT with earplugs in 'cause Dh is watching some crazed war movie thing--I'll tell ya, if I never see another movie about war, any war at all, it will be way too soon--but I've got to stop now as the explosive noises are, well, explosive.

Hope to be back in the a.m.

Morning Kath! Glad you got to have your lunch with Jo - sounds fun. That's sad that the clinic is trying to push her out of her job. Your visit with the nephlets also sounds like a good one - crawling! How fun is that - and a tooth!!

Dropping in to say Mornin', Kath.

About the Spark book: other people loved it. For me the idea just fell flat, which may be because I watched the entire drama unfold, and it was pretty sickening. I dunno. The book just felt dull to me.

Off to do some errands. It's a beautiful day in this particular neighborhood.

201mckait
Sep 7, 2012, 8:28 am

Well mami.. that was yesterday, with Jo, I think ? lol ... This morning I gave Duncan a bath, and put the risers under the bed. ( omg. hard) and soon, I will shower. I'm a wee bit shaky from the lifting.. it isn't something I can do with my very strong legs ... so it was harder. Could have used another hand. Oh... and the other mattress doesn't fit under the bed. I tried. The twin mattress which I though would slide under.. needs another inch. le sigh.

So maybe after I shower? Then I can just read and relax and do a bit of laundry. Duncan has lots of silky hair and needs a fair few towels to get him as dry as I can "_

So..hello there calm. I know that I've been neglecting you and others.. so busy:P

Good day to you Gail! Sorry about the noise. That is the sort of movies that Dan watches too... then he watches car shows, fishing and sports. On LOUD. I feel your pain...

Hi Stas! I will get there eventually :)

okay... I realized that the trash had not been picked up. There must have been a holiday? ( duh)
So .. since I was already sweaty ( lovely ) and had my second wind, I did more tree trimming. I am safe to be around now though... took a shower. Laundry up next... just a couple of loads, and the washer does all the work.. usually. Unless it decides not to spin. So....

So.. reading will ensue! And some food. Hungry.

Sep 7, 2012, 11:42 am

I have recently learned from my daughter (Bridget) that some people relax by sitting down and other people relax by getting active. This was a revolutionary new idea to me as my idea of relaxing is sitting with my feet up and reading or some such. This inactivity drives Bridget nuts! She has to pretty much be movin' and shakin' to be happy.

Methinks you may be in the same boat, Kath. It's obvious you are related to the Eveready Bunny ;-)

Have a great day!

207mckait
Sep 7, 2012, 11:54 am

Not at all, Cee... I want to sit and read.. but I also want to get things done. I am almost done.
2 loads of laundry, I just started now. I ran down the hill to see the nephlets. Talk about make my day..
I handed Owen over to his mom and was going to leave so they could get ready to go to Kim's mom's house... and he turned and reached both arms out to me to asking me take him back!!!! Floating on cloud 9 is me :) My Amy is similar to Bridget... and I have to say that I have been consciously emulating her lately. Trying to be more active. I am running out of things to do :P But in the evenings I just sit there like a lump.. and I am about to start doing that very thing in about 5 minutes.

So, I am done for the day mostly :)

Gail, If I had anything remotely resembling coffee cake in the house, you can bet I would be eating some today. However, in order to eat something sweet, I would have to bake it and that is just not gonna happen. I am sitting down and pretty much doing nothing for the rest of the day ....

Sep 8, 2012, 8:48 am

Hi Stas.. well, I may need a bit more rhus tox today... things are not looking good. :P

Hi Terri. I can't figure out where it came from. I went out looking and still didn't find any ...I'm glad to hear that your library will be getting The Beautiful Mystery. I actually tried calling to ask ours but no one answered ... lol #during open hours

Poor rd, he has had a rough time lately. I myownself prefer snakes to wasps, and we do have one or two fairly large ones who live here... I guess they prefer other food?

Hi Ellen. If you mean the Poison ivy, not too much.. lol. I did take some benedryl last night and slept well :) Of course I woke up at 5:30 when the wind tore off the trellis at the end of my porch, and blew my trash cans that held tree cuttings all over my yard. So I was out in the dark and rain cleaning that up, so the trash guys could take it. So if there was any poison ivy in that batch .. I'm in trouble. Traditionally here, it is thursday night when we have storms, or early friday, since friday is trash day. Trash was delayed a day by the holiday, so the storm waited, too. So that's how my day started. #NoFun

I am pretty unhappy about the loss of the trellis, because when Dan put it up, I told him that without securing the sides, it was vulnerable to wind, which we get plenty of. But of course since I have no idea what I'm talking about ( ever) he ignored me. I hate that end of the porch to be open... as I am not interested in even seeing the house of the people who live across from me. They are generally disliked in the neighborhood because they are nasty.... to everyone. He even badgers the 85 yr old lady on the other corner about where she parks her car. He thinks he owns the neighborhood...so.. grrrrrr.

102. A Fatal Winter by G.M.Mailliet 4 stars

This is a good cozy series, I also liked the first, Wicked Autumn. I have decided that I like the folks of Nether Monkslip very well indeed. It isn't Three Pines, but I do enjoy my visits. recommended.

rd.. I have had so little time to read this week, I struggled when it came to reviewing this one.
I hope you reached your PearlPoint... for me it is whenever I choose it to be. I guess I am not a very good Pearler.

Gail.... well, it has been busy, with Dan getting home. Lots of laundry and putting away of things. His version and mine. But all is done and I have a pot of pork chops and rice for dinner.. and one last load in the dryer and whew! Done! I hope.

I'm so glad I finally finished this one. I wanted to be reading so badly, but it just wasn't in the cards this time... It took me all week for one little book. I do hope that anyone who likes Three Pines will consider giving these books a whirl.. I like them.

Well, Dan sort of propped up the trellis .. I hope he does it properly tomorrow. I guess he is taking a vacation from his vacation. He goes back to work tomorrow.. All day it has been blaring TV and newspaper all over . I haven't said a word, but I do know that after an afternoon of baseball, there is football in my future. I guess I will be retiring to my room early?

So I will try to give the threads a peek, but the dryer stopped, and I need to get the last load out of there..
