There was no indication that OUP was only offering downloads of their titles for this batch. I won't review ebooks. How does this get taken off my "books won"?

78jbd1
Edited: Apr 18, 2013, 9:34 am

All of the OUP books in the February batch were correctly marked in the usual ways as e-books on the LTER requests page, and the descriptions for each began with "Description: **Available via NetGalley".

See, for example, http://www.librarything.com/er/list?batch=513#13442986

I requested, and have been notified that I have won, Thieves of Book Row. However, the notification stated "Please note that if you do not have a NetGalley account, you will need to sign up for one in order to download the e-book. "

While it is true that the description of the book in the February batch said "Available via NetGalley", nowhere did it state that one would be required to join another site in order to receive the book.

I think such a requirement is wildly inappropriate. But if it is to be allowed, it should be made clear in the book's description.

Just as a heads up, I won the third Tales from Lovecraft Middle School book by Charles Gilman and was instead sent a copy of The Resurrectionist which I did not request. Both are from Quirk Books. Not sure if this was an accident or intentional. Just wanted others who won the book to be on alert.

What should I do about the review?

>81 MeganAngela: - Drop me a note (jeremy AT librarything.com) that I can forward on to Quirk to make sure you get the right book. You can do whatever you like with the extra book you got.

I'll get a message to you this evening! I definitely don't mind having a copy of The Resurrectionist as it looks like something up my alley, I was just really looking forward to the Tales from Lovecraft Middle School book as I've read the others in the series! Thanks for the quick response, Jeremy!

Title: The Resurrectionist by E. B. Hudspeth
Date Received: April 24, 2013? I forgot to log it here when I got it so I'm not sure, but in the last few days anyway.
Method of Delivery: USPS
Sent from: New York, NY
Sent to: Goodyear, AZ
Packaging method: Paperboard envelope
Format: A very lovely finished hardback!
Publisher: Random House/Quirk
Came with: A letter about the book

I haven't started to read this yet, but couldn't resist thumbing through it as soon as I got it. The illustrations and plates are fantastic. I think I remember reading that some LT winners got an earlier ARC without the illustrations, and I can understand why the book wouldn't have the same impact.

I'm on the West Coast and haven't received it either. I checked the "still unreceived" button on my ER page.

I was notified that I won Thieves of Book Row on April 12. I created a NetGalley account as instructed and downloaded the book both to my desktop and for my Kindle. Life intervened and I was not able to get it right away, and now I find the book deleted and I am no longer able to download a galley copy from NetGalley.

If there is a time limit for these e-titles, could it be made explicit? I believe with the print galleys there is no particular time limit, although I realize ASAP is desirable. (I'm afraid most of April was out of my control.) In any case, I have no way of reviewing this book now--can I have it stricken from my Early Reviewer list?

Finally received my February win The How-to Handbook. The note from the publisher with apologies for the delay was appreciated.

Still have not received Extreme Searcher's Internet Handbook. Did anyone ever get this one? No reviews from ERs.
