Subsorting was announced on the Blog on Monday Sep 3 and I have still to get it to work. Do you have to be in a particular view? Is there any other secret?
All I get is two sorts, one after the other, not a sort then a sort on a sort!
I've looked forward to this feature for a long time and to have it announced and not be able to use it is frustrating.

Looks like it's working OK for me - how can you tell that it's not?
You have to do the sub-sort first, then the main sort. So if I sort by title, then by author each author's books are in alphabetical order.
Added: on FF2 here.

I already mentioned this in a comment on the blog, but what I am getting here at work (with IE6 which I can't change, unfortunately) is the titles reverse-sorted within each author. Sorting by title alone works perfectly.
I even tried reverse sorting by title, then by author but I got exactly the same result.
Similarly, sorting by reverse date entered (i.e. most recent first) then by author gives me the works for each author sorted by date entered (i.e. most recent last.)
The subsorting works fine at home with Firefox.

Works for me with IE7

Not for me on IE6 behind a corporate firewall. I click on Author, I get whole catalog sorted by author (a-z) then I click on Title and I get whole catalog sorted by title (a-z (well actually 1-z)).
I'm on the Maine server.

It seemed to be working for me, but then I decided to sort my library on Shared then Author to see my books by author sorted by their popularity. When I got to Isaac Asimov they were in the proper order until I got down to the last three which were, Asimov's New Guide to Science (118), The Naked Sun (virtual) (1085), and The Robot Novels: Caves of Steel, Naked Sun (120).
It's like it didn't think that the last two Isaac Asimov's are the same as the others and sorted them after. But both groups seem to go to the same author page.

I tried this in my library and found the same thing. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility sorted after the rest. Then I looked closer and noticed there was a comma after Jane in the name. Bingo.
Take a look at your Isaac Asimovs again, your sources have Isaac spelled two different ways.

They all seem to be spelled identicallay and the author links for all three books are:
http://www.librarything.com/author/asimovissac
http://www.librarything.com/author/asimovisaac
http://www.librarything.com/author/asimovissac
I don't detect any difference.
