A Barnes & Noble store jumped in front of me this morning and sucked me into the store, where I was forced to purchase the following:

The Accidental Book Club
The Underground Railroad
Leave Me
and two 2017 calendars

I circumvented the evil Genii who impressed me into the purchases by refusing to walk though more than the front of the store or, no doubt, the financial damage would have been far greater.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Fed my obese Kindle today. No, I'm not fat-shaming a device!

Bought Kokoro, by Natsume Soseki. A classic that I heard is usually read by Japanese high school students as a school assignment. Does anyone know if this is true?

>23 JulieLill: I've read some nice things about Nutshell and I've been a McEwan fan for a long time, so I'm really looking forward to it. Good luck with the library queue -- the book isn't very long, so perhaps you'll get it more quickly than you think.

I couldn't pass up Dawn of the Dinosaurs: The Late Triassic in the American Southwest by Christa Sadler after meeting the author at a science festival today. She was also kind enough to autograph it for me.

Just bought three new books for my e-reader:

Charm City by Laura Lippman, book 2 in her Tess Monaghan series; I finished book 1 earlier today and am eager to read more.

An Excellent Mystery by Ellis Peters to add to my growing collection of Brother Cadfael stories.

The Stand by Stephen King. This will be my third attempt at reading this novel, and is the third time I've bought it, books 1 and 2 having been returned to the used bookstore from whence I'd bought them. This time I will see the story through and find out why this novel is lauded as his best. It can't get better than The Shining, that's my opinion.
