Cover Images Broken

Hi,

Cover images are not loading/are broken when I went in just now.

Adding to this. I noticed this as well. about 90% of my cover images are broken.

can't see the image/

All of my cover images are showing "Cover Image" icon on the home page, but nothing loads on my "Your books" page.

Actually, now that I go into my "Your books" page, only some images are showing up, but the majority are just blank white space. On home, under added books, broken cover images show up.

I was able to add existing uploaded images to my personal thread this morning, but now I cannot do that nor add images to my junk draw.

You should still see the covers hosted on Amazon (aka covers from Amazon) but images hosted on pics.cdn.librarything.com are broken because it can't resolve the address. DNS is effed at the moment. Should be a quick fix when devs notice. (probably tomorrow morning sometime.)

Seems to be affecting author pictures too. For example William Friedkin

This may be related in that it involves page images: I can't drag and drop to rearrange series using Custom Order.

Looks like all LT images are broken, not only the covers.
Also on the groups page, threads that use LT images, and my own gallery.

It is now 05:00 at LT office. Nobody is at work there now. >7 Taliesien: and >9 Taliesien: diagnosed the problem. It's not something that can be fixed until the programmers come to work.

I still have images missing from my thread, although not all of them. (Not because they are Amazon-sourced.)

Hi all. Sorry for this issue! Most images should be back, throughout the site. There are still a few broken, but it should be sorted within the next few hours. Please post here and let us know if you're still experiencing broken or missing cover images.

It will also depend on how quickly your local provider gets an updated DNS record from our DNS provider. Some of them can cache that info. That can vary, but within the next few hours, certainly.

Also, some operating systems can cache that information and hold onto it too. So your machine may be doing that. So it's a little bit of a waiting game there until it decides to expire it.

I have all the general LT images back and a majority of my thread ones, but others are still missing---the ones I have posted most recently, it looks like. I will continue to monitor.

Litsy web is working well but the app is still not loading images.

However the bug where the covers and photos was fixed may have worked for a lot of LT users but the html code for my photos and covers was changed and added in a "cdn" so the images still wouldn't appear. I went back and took out the "cdn" which fixed them on a couple of my threads so the images showed up again.

I am still seeing broken images on the right-column of my home page where the "Top News" and "Recent News" modules are. For example, the image for the list of the month is broken.

These are all images linked from my gallery.

The problem still persists at our CDN provider. We have an open ticket to fix it and we are actively talking to them about this but we can't solve it until our provider fixes the issue. I'm hopeful it could be in the next hour or two. (?)

It looks like a similar issue. Amazon cover can be seen. Member covers not.

Most likely related to the hacking attack, it may have started up again.

cover image links broken in two accounts, church library (I am working on currently) and also my personal account for my own books. How do I fix? Cheryl

ETA: I just tried clearing your member caches on our end, can you check to see if that helped at all?

on your suggestion, to try another browser, I switched to LibraryThing on Google, all book cover images displayed. Thank you so much! But still not when I use Microsoft browser? Something weird going on with my computer?

Bugs that only affect some members are hard to track because if the rest of us can't see the bug symptoms it may simply be because we are looking at the wrong place :-) So that's why it is a good thing to assume that we are morons and can't read your mind. Always write a bug report as if it is to be read by a person who doesn't know anything about what you are doing or trying to do.

Apparently this bug affects Edge users only?

So far, as far as I know, it's only Windows Edge users that are affected. Edge on my Mac is unaffected. That leads me to believe that it might be tied to the Windows security settings that Edge uses.

Can you try the 1st step at https://www.librarything.com/topic/373679#8947053 before force-closing/restarting your browser? If that doesn't restore covers for you, you may need to try steps 2 and 3 as well.
