It's October, and the Halloween Hunt has returned!
The object of the game is to solve our clues (in verse!) and go to the LibraryThing page each clue is talking about.
Go HERE for the hunt.
You have two weeksโuntil Friday October 31st at 11.59 pm Eastern Timeโto find all the jack-o-lanterns hidden around the site and gather them all together into one troupe.
Use this thread to brag, ask for and give hints, etc.
We will be awarding profile badges to anyone who finds at least two jack-o-lanterns, and anyone who finds all 12 will be entered into a drawing for a LibraryThing prize.

Consolidated hints from this thread (up to this point) for clues 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 are now in the LT Treasure Hunts group.
If you're new to the Treasure Hunts or just need a refresher - because it's not always (in fact, more often than not these days, it isn't) a book/ work - have a look at the 'General Strategies' thread in that group.
And, speaking of 'refresher', some answers - especially the one to clue 5 - seem to need you to refresh/ reload the page to get your pumpkin.

Finally have 12 from 12 though, huge thanks to everyone who left hints for #7 and #3, I don't think I would have gotten those otherwise.

If you're new to the Treasure Hunts or just need a refresher - because it's not always (in fact, more often than not these days, it isn't) a book/ work - have a look at the 'General Strategies' thread in that group.

>194 phonelady61: Click the link in the first post and you'll see a list of 12 clues. The answer to each clue is a page on the LibraryThing website. All you need to do to solve each clue is navigate to the correct page. When you are on the correct page, there will be a banner at the top of the page that says you've solved a clue, and that clue will be crossed out on the list of clues.
196bnielsen
I'll keep it simple :-)
Among the millions of web pages under the www.librarything.com umbrella LT staff has chosen 12.
Your goal is to find them. When you happen to find one, a little banner will emerge and tell you so.
The riddles to solve are given here:
https://www.librarything.com/hunt/39
You come to this group to get help and hints (and brag, when you have found them all).
The 12 pages can be anything. I.e. some character from Common Knowledge, LT's webshop, a tag page, a work page, an author, a Melville decimal number 514.3383883 et cetera. Because the idea of the hunt is to get you to search all corners of the site.

Hey you all, I joined Library Thing two weeks ago. I got all of the hints except #1 and #3. Totally lost on #1. Clueless to even begin to know where to look. I first thought that #3 referenced Marvel's Scarlet Witch . I don't think so anymore. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I've tried Hester Prynne, Witch, Halloween, crocodile in various permutations. But I've found nothing. Good news, I've learned about tag mash, by playing this hunt.

I don't want to be a spoilsport, but I don't want to learn any more about serial killers than I already know. The answer to 11 isn't apparent to me without looking up more information than I want to learn about some apparently horrendous crimes. Would someone mind just linking me to the answer so I can complete this hunt? Much appreciated.
