In the recent site updates, the review icon visible in the collections view changed from a text bubble to a quill. What was nice about the old icon was that, in addition to showing how many reviews there were via a number (still there with the new icon), it indicated with a filled-in bubble if you wrote one of those reviews. Now, with the quill there is no way to tell. Maybe this is an issue for a few people, like me, who post many reviews, but it's frustrating to have that functionality in the icon for years and then lose it all of a sudden. Is there any way in bringing back that visibility of personal reviews while steel keeping the new style of icon?

Same is true in catalog view.
I absolutely agree with this. It was so easy before to know instantly whether you'd reviewed a book.

Totally agrred.

I need to make it a quill to agree with the many other places where we use quill to mean "review." Any ideas on how we can differentiate this?

A horizontal line at the tip of the quill for a written review? A simple underscore might do.

Can you do an "empty" quill if we didn't review the book, as you did with the bubble?

I don't care about the shape but having a quick glance to see if I've reviewed a book or not is crucial to how I use the catalog

Could you change the color of the quill? Maybe make it green with a written review and red/black for no review?

>5 paradoxosalpha: Whimsical and functional, and if that isn't LT then ... well, then I guess I have it wrong?

>8 gilroy: Remember colour blindness issues, so best avoid red/green and blue/yellow. Outline vs solid works or have 2 versions of the quill: one with the quill plus an inkpot (no review), or no inkpot (been reviewed).

>11 Maddz: I added the black as a change option as well. But those were just suggestions. Color change is more what I was suggesting.

And even for those with colour blindness, differences in intensity can easily be recognized.

OK, how about using the old icon where you've written a review, but the quill where you've not reviewed it?
15timspalding
Okay, I've made the icons "open." If you've reviewed a book, it's now full.

The quill shape is kind of blah on my desktop computer (probably because I'm zoomed way out) but it really pops on mobile
