I'll be celebrating the Green Dragon's 100,000th post!
My son comes home late Monday night after three weeks in Europe. So that means only three and a half more days of cleaning his room, and cooking and enjoying foods he doesn't like. ;o) Although, after choking down the boiled potatoes served at every meal they ate in Ireland and England, I think he might be a little more flexible about his dinners. *giggle*
Also, I'll be gardening a bit during the cooler parts of the days. It's going to be hot here, by New England standards. (That means 95º F - 35º C.)

We have the Mid-Atlantic Green Dragon Get-Together this weekend! ...though, if our number dwindles much more, it won't be happening...

We're supposed to have a stormy weekend, so I suppose I'll be staying in, enjoying the return of baseball.
Comcast is giving us a free preview of MLB Extra Innings so I can watch whatever game I want, no matter where in the country it's taking place. This is pleasing to me, even if the games aren't in HD.
I just balanced the checkbook and payed the bills, which is the first thing I try to do on Fridays. It's nice to start the weekend off with that chore already taken care of.

Not sure... err celebrating the GD post party I suppose.
Was going ot be caving for one day and may still - depends on the degree of disorganisation of others. When I've thought I'd plumbed the depths of chaos they can cause, they still manage to suprise me by being that little bit more disorganised or then suddenly a blip of organisation happens and I'm shocked all over again.
Won't be gardening, forecast is for rain and less than! (when will I remember I can't use the symbol) 20C tmeps. Yes this is an english summer.
I would liek to be playing The Witcher but OtherHalf needs the PC for studying which is more important. Hence I'll be forced to read, and may do some cooking. It's a hard life some weekends.
edit because less than is a pain.

I've got to face facts and unpack some things and seriously move into my mom's house. I don't know how long this is for, but it has to be done. Sort of a depressing weekend for me. I'm sure I'll be visiting the GD threads and chat alot at night. *sigh*
I'll probably need a few virtual drinks and, if my mood doesn't get better, I may opt for the real stuff.

The Husband and I are going to Indiana to visit my parents (this will be the last time I'll be able to visit them before the baby comes). He'll come back home Sunday, but I'm staying until mid-week next week, and then my parents are bringing me home and staying here for a week or so while The Husband is away at a conference. So, I probably won't be online much for awhile (even though I'm mostly a lurker anyway).
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hang in there, GeorgiaDawn! I'll ask Rosie to send by a virtual pint so you don't have to resort to real ones (unless, of course, you decide you want to).
I'm sorry to be missing the mid-Atlantic get-together, but it's for a good reason: my older son and his SO are joining us for the weekend. We haven't seen them since Christmas, so it's a treat to have them visit.

My best friend's lesbian sister is having a bachelorette party on Saturday. No, it won't be as exciting as it sounds. We're just all going to a baseball game. (Damn!)
Otherwise, I might do nothing at all. Hopefully, I'll visit some used bookstores and pull myself out of this non book-buying slump. I feel so unmotivated, though.

We're going to put the old computer in my daughter's rec room so she can play some of the old games that won't work with Vista.
I'm going to do some gardening and possibly start some new batches of pickles.
Daughter and I are going to see Peter Pan at the Raleigh Memorial on Sunday, with free tickets, courtesy of a neighbor who had knee-replacement surgery on Tuesday and can't go. Part of me just wants to stay home and veg, part of me is excited to go.

I'm off today and will do nothing. Not a damn thing. Well, maybe tonight we'll go for dinner, but that will probably be under duress. Desire to do things

On Sunday going to my godchild's wedding with my daughter. She is getting married in a vineyard out in a winery! Guess what I will be doing? Hmm should I chose a red or a white? Hmm tough one! LOL

I’m going to go see Batman! My fiancé and I also always plan one date night every weekend.

Going to a film convention tomorrow - meeting John Landis, Christopher LLoyd, Karen Allen and Margot Kidder. Can't wait!
Not sure what I'm doing on Sunday...

My weekend is going to be spent, purposefully, not thinking about the remodel. My wife and I have been living in it for months and we decided that it is best, for sanity sake, to feel like a couple who does things other than talk about home construction.
So, on Saturday morning, we are headed off to the beach, and we may or may not come back Saturday night. The whole idea is to be unplanned.

Out to dinner tonite, guest of my house guest. He appreciates me and is willing to do lots of nice things.
Tomorrow, my friends with the lab dogs are having their official house warming party. Drive is about an hour and a half there, and the same back. So I'll go, for a while, and drive a lot. Got to take a "dish" too. Hum, de, dum. I hope I enjoy the party but I am imagining it will be semi dull with married couples and me one of the only unattached persons. Parties like that are mine fields sometimes.
Sunday, my house guest leaves, and I have no plans. I am quite looking forward to that.

The wife and went to visit the Green Dragon Farmer's Market (remember that thread?) in Ephrata, Pennsylvania. It's big. Really big. And it was hot today! We got some bacon-egg-and-cheese bread and strawberry bread from one of the Amish booths, some homemade pasta from another, some cushions for our kitchen chairs, and The Stand and Dracula from the used book booths.
Then we went to downtown Ephrata and had lunch at a little cafe and coffee shop, picked up a couple of miniature kites to give our godchildren for Christmas, and some fabric for use in the wife's quilting.
All in all, a great day! If you have a chance to go by the Green Dragon, it's worth stopping in.

#23 drneutron - Did you see any stray Smurfs or Puffins?

very hot here this weekend too....so after an early watering of the garden, i am planning on spending a lot of the day hiding in the A/Cd family room.
maybe a trip to see a movie at the very nice A/Cd movie theatre.
A/C is the theme...

Apparently, I'm spending the day hollering at my husband today. It's O.K., he's doing it first. I think we need to turn our air conditioning lower and send the children away. Neither of us are angry with one another, we just don't seem able to speak normally. *Thinking of JPB's beach, sigh.*

I've overdosed on taking a whole lot of Red Cross classes for the past two weekends, and having passed my background check, I'm now an official ARC volunteer! Yippee! I get to be on-call from 7 p.m. through 7 a.m. at least one week a month. I live in both a hurricane alley and a huge wildfire zone, and I'm committed to volunteer work, so this is both a practical and moral necessity for me.
And folks, despite what you may have read about peculation of funds, the many committed ARC volunteers I've met over the past two weeks are some of the most dedicated and humanitarian people I've ever met. The dollars you donate go to our clients -- aka victims of disasters, both great and small. However, their addiction to acronyms has made my head spin!
But after two weeks of intensive training I'm settling back with a great book about Irene Adler and Sherlock Holmes by Carole Nelson Douglas and a tall, mildly intoxicating beverage! And maybe some good chocolate, later on.

Crom! My head hurts. I had a pint at the Pyramid brewery noon, then headed into Safeco Field to watch the Mariners get stomped with my friends and my buddy's sister's friends. A pint of beer was $5.50 (on draft) at the brewery. That's bad. But, beer was $8.50 in the stadium. That's downright painful (I didn't have any there.)
Then, we went bowling, where I moved on to Bourbon. After that, we somehow ended up at the Castle sex shop on Broadway. That was interesting. Later, we found a rum bar in the area (expensive!), then it was off to a Mexican restaurant (taquitos!). Still later, we went to another bar, till closing. A full day.

#29 - not surprised your head hurts hun, that sounds like a head busting kind of a day.
You reminded me of a trip to Amsterdam I once made with my Nana. We had a lovely day looking in the shops and found one with a beautiful Christmas tree display that we both admired before realising all the trees were decorated with condoms and sex toys *blush*

The family agreed that it was too hot to make plans this weekend. The objective was to remain still and not stir hot air...We did run an errand or two but only to stores with air conditioning. (Remind me one day to tell you why I have come to loathe BestBuy as a retail outfit.)
I read a Regency romance yesterday afternoon (brain candy) but otherwise did little else that would qualify as productive or constructive. Don't think I can get away with that today.

#1 Clam, my first trip to Europe was a package tour when I was 15 going 16 (birthday the day we left to come home). We had tomato soup followed by veal every £$%^ meal for 6 weeks! (oh, except one: the fondue at a ski place in Switzerland -- that was many times worse) Since when I have gone a delicate shade of green at the very whiff of tomato soup, and given the choice will put almost anythink -- maybe not mopane worms, but most other things, ahead of veal on my wish list. So don't bet on it!

I visited 4 used bookstores today and came away with no books. I've been looking for a good omnibus of Tennessee Williams plays, to no avail. Other than that, I did nothing at all today. Blah.
35reading_fox
I finished Tripoint, and am over halfway through Antartica which I didn't realise had the same Phil Chase in as forty signs of rain. I also whipped various internet nonentities at the Witcher Vversus.
Otherhalf's nearly finished all the questions that have to be submitted by midnight today.

I put up 16 pints of dill pickles and started pickes for a batch of sweet pickles. Lots and lots of cucumbers from the garden.
My daughter and went with our neighbor's daughter and SiL to see Peter Pan at the Raleigh Memorial. It was wonderful - think Mary Martin. Live orchestra, not canned music - hooray! - and the miking was perfect - you could hear everything easily.
Plus, it was very well done. Gave me chills and goosebumps 'cuz it reminded me of watching it when I was young.

mono.... I am seriously worried. Four stores and not one book?!?
karen, wow! lots of work! I used to put up tomatoes and make dilly beans and jam, no more. As for Peter Pan, its a favorite kids book of mind and I would dearly live to see a performance.. glad your daughter was able to go.

I know. I was somewhat surprised as well. I still read a lot (read for about 3 hours after my typing my previous post), but I'm running low on enthusiasm for very much else currently. And now it's Monday, and I'm at work.

I'm answering this late 'cause it wasn't posted when I left. I spent the weekend from Thursday through Sunday in Bisbee, Arizona while participating in a "Paranormal Weekend" event put on by a friend of mine who runs the ghost tours there. It was a blast. So much happened and I've got some pretty good quality evidence to show for it plus a few personal experiences that can't be used as evidence at all.

#32 - Well, the potatoes were only part of the problem, Hugh. Seems they were served chicken for dinner every day but one. (They got some fab fish & chips in London.) He says he does NOT want to even see chicken again for a while. I said 'Didn't you have frogs legs one night?" and he said, "Yes, but it tasted just like chicken. And after the frog, they served us CHICKEN!"
:o)
:o)
43Choreocrat
Frog really does taste like chicken. But with smaller bones. It's not really worth it IMHO.
45clamairy
#43 - It's only worth it of there is extra garlic... and butter...
;o)
It tasted sort of chicken-like and maybe mildly fishy to me. But I haven't had it for years and years.
Frogs legs don't take much more effort to eat than chicken wings, and those are hugely popular, at least in this country.

#45 - I agree with you, clam! The one time I ate frog legs I said they tasted like a fishy chicken. They were okay, but not great.
48hfglen
#42 My sympathy to your son, Clam. Been there, done that. (At least he didn't have to eat a fondue that made the whole building reek of puke, with no hope of escape.) Dunno that I'd be able to handle frog's legs.
