I went to make a recommendation for a book tonight, and found that the "contribute a member recommendation" link has disappeared from work pages. I checked a random sampling of my books in two different browsers -- nothing. Have we lost the ability to do this recently, and I just missed it?

I agree, it's not there. :(

I've been looking all over for information on what happened to it, or how I forgot how to do it and this is the first information I could find. :(
At least now I know I'm not the only one. (I could have worked up a serious paranoia about how Tim didn't want *me* making recommendations.)
infiniteletters, that must be awfully frustrating for you particularly (one of the unhelpful pages I found had the recommendation stats and you were right up at the top of the list).

4: I do like making recommendations. :)

We'll get them as soon as I can. The removal was a result of some mid-stream collections improvements being made to the work page and it was pushed to the live server when the new widgets were pushed.
Work pages were then broken completely so I had to do some field triage to get them back running as fast as possible. One of the things that was left out of that triage was the recommendations.

Thanks for the response, cD!
Collections must be getting as eager to appear as we are to have it - bits of it keep escaping! ;-)

#7 -- Thanks! Just as long as I know they'll be back, I'm all right with it. ;-) Good luck; that sounds like a lot of work.

Frustrating. I don't think I've ever given a member recommendation before, but just read a book on blackwork, and wanted to recommend a better one. I finally put the recommendation in the review.

fixed. or seems to be for me.

Recommendations are back up, and the work page is a little different. :)

Recommendations didn't appear to be working when I tried it today as I was given no feedback that the recommendation had been added. The lightbox sat there doing nothing, so I clicked 'Make recommendation' again.
It *was* working however, so now I've accidentally added two recommendations for the same work and there doesn't seem to be any way to remove one: http://www.librarything.com/work/5024010

Do you see a little pencil beside one or both of your rec's? You can click that to get to the edit box, and from there delete one of them.

You can 'edit' your rec and then delete it from there - but yes, it's very confusing. A progress bar or wait screen or something to indicate that it 'took' would help prevent a lot of duplicate recs!
On a somewhat related note, is there anywhere I can see a list of all recommendations I've made previously? I just made a duplicate of one I'd done months ago, because I forgot! Fortunately, I did catch it.

Thanks Aerrin99 and mountebank. I could swear that little pencil was not there earlier today.
A throbber or other feedback would be nice.

16: It's possible to see a list of all recommendations, but not to narrow it to your own (without using your browser's find feature).
