FF3.6/Win7

1. When first collapsing one of the sections, it takes 3 clicks to do so. After a section has been closed, the feature behaves as one would expect - opening and closing with single clicks. If the page is refreshed, or another Work page is opened, it once again takes 3 clicks to collapse the section.

2. The References section never remembers its open/close state. All other sections retain their open/closed status during a browser session (can't remember right now if it actually sticks longer than that), but the References section stays open all the time.

I second these, they've both been going on for a while for me too.

I had been thinking #1 was just a problem with my own computer. #2 has been bugging me ever since the References section was introduced. The other sections usually stay closed for me for a week or two at a time.

Yes, this is very aggravating. Especially when the customisation settings unset themselves every couple of weeks (as per #3) and you have to click them all 3 times shut again and then rearrange them an'all. It wasn't like that at the beginning (I'm referring to the 3-clicking not the automatic resetting which has always been there) - in fact it might have started when that unclosing references section was added more recently?

I have also wondered whether I've been hallucinating or my library has also periodically lost its sort order? Is there a cookie that automatically resets itself every now and then that shouldn't?

While we're in the neighbourhood, I'd REALLY like to have CK Short form back.

I think the periodic resetting of things like sort orders is when Tim does a code push.

8: In which case if the choice is between losing settings and acquiring new code, then the latter takes precedence without question. It would be nice to be sure that this is the case though.

It would be nice to see these things fixed.

While we're on the subject of Work page sections, isn't it long past time to get rid of the "Open Shelves Classification" piece, which hasn't been relevant for a very long time and presumably never will be again? Sure, we can all collapse it and move it down to the bottom, but is there any point in having it here at all? Not a priority by any means, just a "the next time someone's in that code anyway" detail.

Three days ago, I started a new thread with the following. There have been no replies. Because it's related to this thread, I thought it might be easier to call attention to this bug here, with related issues than on its own.

On a book's main page, when you scroll down a bit, you see an area to enter member recommendations. The small down arrow next to the section name is supposed to toggle that section open or closed... or at least, the similar arrows do so for other sections.

The toggle for the member recommedations area seems to be linked to the section above, labeled LibraryThing recommendations. Member recommendations does not close for me as all other sections do. (FF 3.6.3, Windows Vista, 64bit).

Not a critical problem but it does complicate working with new entries in my library because I close most or all sections below Book Information to reduce the amount of scrolling required when there is much updating to do.

I started a new thread too, and was pointed over here; I must have done too quick a scan of the topics. I noticed the same thing about the member recommendations module as 1dragones noted above. It's more annoying now that there are changes being done to that module; I've got it open now, but I don't know how I managed it.

Same issues using mobile Safari. How does it work for people using IE8?

15> Same problem with IE7/8. And weren't the sections rearrangeable at one point? Because for the past year or so they haven't been (at least in IE) although the pointer still changes on mouseover...

I can still move them around in Firefox, and I can even get the Member Recs section to close/open if I move it far enough away from the LT Recs.

16> The rearrangeability of the sections was disabled for IE because it wasn't working right, and I think Tim said at the time that they had no plans to fix it.

Was that for all of IE, or just IE6?

20SylviaC

It was all of IE. I was on IE7 at the time. Tim wasn't very happy about even having that page customizable, so he wasn't going to put any more resources into fixing it. http://www.librarything.com/topic/62134#1196419

*bump*? Have admin seen this? I can kinda-sorta understand the IE stuff, but it's not just happening on IE... it's definitely a bug.... so....?

I just moved my member recommendations WAY far away from LibraryThing recommendations, and it still will not collapse.

*bump again*

Hello? Anyone?

Look at how horrible the member recommendations are on Twilight's page:
http://www.librarything.com/work/8384326

It goes on FOREVER and you can't collapse it! GAH!
