My favorite author would be J.K Rowling. The major book series she wrote would be the Harry Potter books.

Actually now almost a year has past and I need to change my favorite author. Instead of J.K. rowling my favorite author now is Rick Riordan author of the Kane Chroincles, The Heroes of Olympus and The Percy Jackson and Olympians

Tastes change - it's a good thing. I'm not familiar with Rick Riordan (might be a generation thing - I'm in my fifties), but I did enjoy J.K. Rowling a lot.

My real favourite is Lewis Carroll though. I've read his Alice books so many times since I was a kid, and I always discover new things to like - whatever age I'm at.

He wrote Alice and Wonderland, correct? Rick riordan wrote the Percy Jackson series and is working on an Egyptian mythology called the Kane Chronicles. THe first book is called the Red Pyramid. HE is also the Heroes of Olympus series which is an onset to the Percy JAckson series.

No question in my mind - Anne Fadiman. My favorite book of hers is Ex Libris: Confessions of a Common Reader, but she is better known for her first book, The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down, about a Hmong child who has epilepsy and the cultural clashes between his local group and the American doctors who try to treat it.

I've also enjoyed books written by her husband, George Howe Colt. You can see a lot of her influence in his ability to tell a story, especially in The Big House: A Century in the Life of an American Summer Home.

Anne is the daughter of the renowned Clifton Fadiman - and apparently we can't touchstone two people with the same last name... - author, critic, founder of the original Book Club. What a legacy!

Speaking of Dad, Cliff and his book The New Lifetime Reading Plan, happens to be a favorite of mine.

I don't think I can pick just one writer, but a recent favorite is Dr. Haggard's Disease by the unmistakable Patrick McGrath. This book was one of the last of his I read and it's his best. Strange how that worked out.

I have never read anything by Anne Fadiman. Thanks for the mention! I will give her books a try.

As for favorite author? I haven't read anything by him in a long time, but Chaim Potok will forever be on my list for The Chosen and The Promise.

I have a lot of favorites! But for now, I'd have to say Brandon Sanderson. He's most well known for finishing The Wheel of Time, but his own work is fantastic, also.
