"The Fifth Head of Cerberus" is a complex story involving cloning and child abuse, written in the form of a memoir. "Jody After the War" has emotional attachment issues, no surpise there. "Christlings" points to the potential hazards of excessive emotional attachment, chemically induced. "A Kingdom by the Sea" makes one wonder what effect a prolonged stint working in a slaughterhouse would have on one's psyche.
this was released back in '72, and man, does it show. Every story seems to involve some sort of sex, some form of psychological front and a lot of angst, whining and general immaturity. If this was a true representation of SF back then, I'm glad I missed it.
