American Stories represents a collection of Trillin stories published in The New Yorker during the 80s. Trillin touches on a disparate group of situations and people - with equal clarity and understanding for each. Some stories are deadly serious, while others offer descriptions of some eccentirc and talented Americans. All allow ample opportunity to reflect and learn, while simultaneously experieincing non-fiction writing at its finest. How I wish other writers were as gifted as Trillin - he is a great storyteller. This is my second Trillin book and I look forward to picking up others. Highly recommended.
